some of the responses in this thread are borderline retarded especially coming from black people.. you worship a god that was enforced upon you by the white man, a religion and a book that that was institutional in dehumanizing and violating your ancestors, yet you still cling to these things
Believing in yourself...?If you think your God then how can you believe in one
I'm more curious on why religion has such a mental stranglehold on the people.

i'm not even saying i'm against anyone practicing religion.. do what you think is best for you, but without understanding they whys or the hows behind it, you're just gonna end up being even more lost..
It doesn’t. Very few Christians actually practice Christianity… can’t speak for Muslims
To be real, I feel like the majority of younger black people are atheist/agnostic but just don't feel comfortable espousing those beliefs.
There's no way you can believe in an actual hell and still be into the demonic shyt a lot of people in our community be on. I mean hell aren't we #1 in abortions?
Generationally, the Black Church will fall off more and more, because they're more about pimping the collection plate, and don't do shyt for the community. While I feel practicing the slavemaster's religion is retarded, at least back in the day, the church was the resistance and was a community helping organization. Now it's just another hustle.i know plenty of black atheists or at the very least non-religious black people. i would personally classify myself as agnostic. i think millennials are just less religious in general, especially in california, maybe it's still huge in the south. not that i didn't grow up going to church or around older religious people, but most of the people from my generation are not. also a lot of my friends are college educated, not trying to say anything about level of education and religious belief, but i do think it tends to have more atheists.
white people just the ones who are obsessed with it and love to talk about it like it's the most important issue in their life.
belief in god or religion is one of the least important issues in my life. yes i know some people can make arguments that theocrats/theocracy are some of the main problems in our political discourse, especially in this upcoming election, when you look at issues like abortion or the ongoing conflict in gaza/israel, but i tend to believe a lot of the people pushing these things aren't actually religious. they're opportunists using some fanatics. i think an issue like abortion stems from straight up weirdos wanting to have some control over women that isn't necessarily from the bible and i believe the gaza/israel conflict is totally racism based. it actually has a lot less to do with religion than the jews will have you think.
Thats what we're calling white suprmacy nowBelieving in yourself...?
Didn't ask who "practiced Christianity," asked about the mental stranglehold religious ideas have on the global population.
You may find this book interesting because it talks about Progressive Christians and how many were pushed out of Christianity and "othered"Yes I jumped to the people ruining our country the people you talked about are border line white supremacists who have zero power so you also jumped to fukking extremists.
I don’t want to hear shyt about “militant atheists” when the people that are stripping us of our rights and in every arm of government are Christians. Spare me your bullshyt I’m not interested in it
I’m tired of y’all equating folks that have no power in this country to folks who quite literally ruined everything and destroying peoples lives. Miss me with that bullshyt
