wat does this even mean

I try my best to reflect on the Gospels, especially Matthew, whenever I can and treat mass like meditation and fellowship — I don't believe in like 60% of what the Catholic Church teaches and I'm not particularly worried about heaven or hell

You wouldn't be able to tell with the way I post, but especially now; I try to act Christlike every day, at least until my patience wears out :skip:

The four gospels take an hour to read, give or take, they have more life and humanity than any other religious texts I've read (especially the OT and Quran)

I'm a Black man who is not religious but not a full on atheist- which is a combo that I seen with a lot of people of color and women. I've met plenty of Black, Latino, East/Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, South Asian etc. people in real life and online who claim to be non-religious but are :whoa: to the idea of being an atheist. Same with white women, few are outright atheist. But white men are more likely to proudly declare being one. I went on reddit and read a thread on the issue and some of the atheist redditors say that white countries are more progressive or advanced that lead to the embrace of atheism and men don't need the social validation and status that comes with religion. But those answers just seem a bit too :mjpls: and misogynistic to satisfy really. What's the Coli's opinion?
White people never believed in God. They were atheist until Africans brought them the abrahamic religions. The basis of religion created by Africans was rooted in spirituality and the relationship between man and the natural forces of the earth. The spirituality aspect is something that could never translate over into Caucasian culture. That’s why they made religion into an institution.

Because, at least in the west, this is explicitly what it was used for. There was a reason why slave masters put so much value in their slaves being good Christians while preaching how slavery is justified in the Bible. Again, control.

It's also why the Japanese cut themselves off for 200 years from westerners because they saw what Christian missionaries true goal was. They saw their citizens being brainwashed against the rule of law in their land and instead putting more stock in the word of Jesus, a foreign belief system. They rightly saw it as the west trying to undermine their society to benefit them and killed a bunch of them before sending them packing. Bible in one hand and sword in the other. Christianity was used as a weapon of control just as much as political beliefs like communism and fascism.

Not talking about just the west, cultural ideas and mores based in religion have a stranglehold on the global population.

So nikkas that believe in GOD aren’t educated? And if you and whoever dapped this, what are y’all educated about that makes yall hate the concept of a higher power?
They've literally done studies on it :mjlol:

But of course you wouldn't know that.... As the study indicates :lolbron:

Why Are Educated People More Likely to Be Atheists?

Religion works more through the emotions than through reason.

Is there a correlation between intelligence and atheism?

The authors also investigated the link between belief in a god and average national IQs in 137 countries. The authors reported a correlation of 0.60 between atheism rates and level of intelligence, which was determined to be "highly statistically significant".

He was killed because he claimed to be the messiah. Not because he was preaching differently
if he claimed he was the messiah...

and performed the same miracles he did....

and was following the narrative he was supposed to...

he would have been just another jewish messiah and nothing would have happened to him...

many theologians actually point to the scene of "overturning the merchants and money exchangers" in the temple as the being the actual reason

at first glance they appear to be out of place but then:

Genesis 45:20-28
20 Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is your's.

21 And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.

22 To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment.

23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way.

24 So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way.

25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,

26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted, for he believed them not.

27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:

28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.

if the temple is a holy place, then anything in that temple serves a purpose beyond what sight reveals.

Another?? There can only be one
this isnt true

messiah means "annointed". Various figures in the bible have been considered annointed and are "messiahs" in their own right (see Joseph above)
