i've lived in america my whole life, been fed the whole charade of this country being the goat and all that shyt, but it's not until you travel and see how people in other countries are really living (not how the media portrays them) and how happy some of those people look, and then come back to this country that it really sinks in that the "rat race" really only applies to our society. that shyt is depressing.
Why are Americans so depressed?

Who wouldn't be depressed in a society that bases the measure of all success with material posesssions ans worldy desires. Collectively we are fed a false sense of what it takes to be happy in life. Its in advertisements, movies, music, damn near everywhere. When people cannot live up to those expectations they feel like losers and get depressed. When those who have met all of society's false criteria for success and realize its all a sham, they too become depressed.
What society is lacking on a whole and what most individuals lack is true spirituality. And I do not mean the collective dogmatism we see in many Islamic countries. I am talking a type of spirituality based more on "knowing" the divine through direct/indirect experiences and less on "knowing" the divine within the confines of concepts and rigid belief systems. Most of religion has failed because it has forgotten its origins in mysticsm.
Coupled with a lack of spirituality, society is also deeply divided to the point where it is physically unhealthy and toxic. Along with material wealth, fear is also sold to the American public. Everyone is so suspicious of their neighbor that they cannot develop true and genuine social bonds (which is intregal to any human living in civilization). How can you confide in someone you do not trust?
There are many other contributing factors but these 2 are the main ones in my opinion.

. these people dont play that shytIn almost every large city, materialism is at an all time high, incarceration still high, access to quality education has taken a step backwards in some cities, inequality increasing, standard of living rising faster than wages. You can drive down one road, on one end, the most extravagant neighborhoods with the bombest view you ever seen, not even 10 miles down on the opposite end of the SAME road you can see some shyt that would have you wanting to make a change.

Came in to say this..you only get real joy in life from having a relationship with God.. People try to find happiness from sex,money, material things but thats only temporary happiness.. You dig a deeper hole when you keep chasing those things leading to depression cause you wont never find true happiness in that shyt.. Its the truth rather you believe in God or not..Lack of God in their lives
Thats why most people depressed cause most of the world dont believe in God.. Jesus that is.
