I'm not taking anything from a rasta website seriously unless it's related to marijuana. No offense.

The problem is, a lot of you have NEVER been to Africa and you make ridiculous claims based on what limited things you have seen on TV.

As to what Berbers/Amazigh look like, well you have a problem there too.

Here are some Berbers/Amazigh:

Can the idea of North African peoples being African, be so peculiar?

The notion of sub-saharan Africa is something developed by our racist oppressors with long lasting affect

Along with the notion that breber = anything not black.

Notion that Abraham religions are anti black or with no roots in Africa.

Notion that being born in Africa doesn't mean African. or that Northern Africa is some distinct Arabic place separate from the rest of Africa.

Everything most of you are saying in this thread is the equivalent of saying--- that North America is a naturally Caucasian land.

all things that oppressors promote.. and we continue to promote are the equivalent of someone saying... that North America is a naturally Caucasian land just because there are hardly any natives around.

I think I may have just had an epiphany, it is true that all three Abrahamic religions are in some way anti black, but one cannot ignore the fact that the whole light skinneded people are put on a pedestal, begun in ancient Egypt,
so burn Masr burn? :yeshrug:

I've been to N. Africa a few times and it's somewhat of a complex situation. There are many Arabs there who's family have been in North Africa for centuries who consider themselves "African" of Arab ethnicity. Many of them have no real knowledge of exatly who their ancestors are and how they got there. African Americans pretty much apply that same rule of thumb when i comes to considering themselves "African Americans." Now the Arabs who have very close knit family ties to the Arabian peninsula are much more likely to consider themselves Arabs first and foremost, but they don't generally consider them "Africans" in the strict sense, because some of them really have no ties there. I personally found that the further within North Africa that you travel, the less likely the Arabs there are to consider themselves strictly Arab.

Now the Berbers without a doubt consider themselves "Africans" and nothing else. In Africa, being an "African" is not the equivalent of being "black"--it's really about ancestral ties to the continent.
