You can't simplify this problem by simply pointing at fat people.

Matter of fact our system discourages preventive care as the video pointed out.

Remember when Michelle Obama tried to create a healthy meal plan for schools and encourage better eating habits only to get shytted on :mjpls:...

This country thrives on building fatty tissues. Think about this..

  • Why is it that the most unhealthiest of foods get better deals than those that are healthy?
  • Why almost every show and commercial on TV and even YouTube associates with gluttony and strong emphesis of heavy binge eating?
  • Why farms are slowly but surely dying out in favor of process foods?

This is coming from a foodie himself, but this shyt has layers that focuses strongly on addiction and profit. Once people start to realize that these food companies are no different from Big Pharma. This country consists of big time corporations trying to treat the masses like addicts while they the dealers.

Its a weird dog and pony show because this country want to push folks to obesity, but kill us off with products and procedures to make us down to Jack Skeleton sizes.

Universal healthcare in America would be trash.
Hell you got a dude from Canada telling you about wait times and not having the ability to choose doctors.

I live in Canada. The Canadian healthcare system is far from perfect, but still much, much better than the US.

Recently, my mom was very sick and went to the emergency room. She got a blood test, ECG, urine test, MRI, and more. She was in and out in less than 3 hours. The cost? $0.

Same here, I'd say. Average would be about 2 months for the first meeting.

Call a bunch of specialists in your area and ask about wait times for appointments. Then you just ask your family doctor to send your referral to whichever specialist has the shortest wait time. I've done this multiple times and have gotten an appointment usually within a few weeks.

The wait time to see a specialist can be pretty brutal though.

How do you think insurance companies work? :pachaha:

When you pay for health or car insurance, you don't just pay for yourself. The insurance company is actually pooling the money of it's enrollees together with the hopes that most of its healthy participants won't really need the shyt in an effort to lower costs for it's riskier enrollees. It's called risk pooling.

Anyways you're paying for other enrollees even when you're paying into a private system (while also making sure investors get a kickback as well). That's why it's a system that is meant to scale so your original comment about small countries being able to do this easier goes right out the window.
That...makes a lot of sense.

Some doctors are not cool like that. It's like an insult to tell them how you want things done.

I've liken it to the mob where the doctors always refer you to their friend and they hate working with outsiders.

It's tough because you try to avoid the friction, but there are so many shytty doctors out here and they are protected.

I have family, friends in the US but the one thing that always bothered me is how the average american knows little to nothing about geopolitics and different cultures around the world, it makes for a worldview that is so myopic, it's almost laughable but i understand how it's not a conscious effort, but ingrained into your society by white people that left the "old world" to create a cac utopia far from the superpowers of their day. It puts you at a disadvantage though, not unlike russians that followed USSR propaganda knowing it couldn't be all based in facts. When dominance in the 20th century was a direct result of industrialisation after WOI, the role the US played in WOII and the pie that was Europe all divided up amongst the victors was a much needed injection into the economic rise we see after. Times are changing though and you dont have to be Nostradamus to see were this is going,China,Russia and possibly India are going to be the new superpowers on the planet. With the US imploding in racial, economic and moral decay, the next 50 yrs will determine how adaptation will keep the US a deciding factor or a former juggernaut having to rebuild itself from the fire it lit on itself, like Russia is doing right now.The ideal of a European Union is next though..they fukked up in 2002 when they decided it was time to face the US head on by creating a monetary federation, run by western european shotcallers(Germany,France,Netherlands,Spain) and calling it a Union with shared european values, which was ridiculous. Countries older then the USA relegated to backwater provinces of a superpower, former empires forced to get with the move or get moved on.
