You would like to vote for Ron Paul, but instead you vote for Obama :damn:

How does that work :damn:

Because he is the lesser of two evils? It's either that, or don't vote. Why are some people on this forum such a$$holes?

Don't worry about it, they can't help themselves. I was just curious about your views on social issues though because Ron Paul and Obama are completely opposite on that.

Ron paul has a lot more in common with Romney than Obama

In fact the RNC is honoring Ron Paul Tuesday and Romney and Paul are friends

Hmmm, maybe I am extremely misinformed. Please school me on this. I'm not being sarcastic. I'm going to try and google the similarities (other than taxes), but if you have any info off top or a website so I can read up, it would be much appreciated. It's hard finding credible ish on the web sometimes.

You'd probably be better off voting Gary Johnson because he's a libertarian and shares many similar beliefs with Ron Paul :manny:

I don't even know if I truly agree with that. Mitt Romney and Obama are probably more similar than either is to Ron Paul. Ron Paul want to get rid of the Federal Reserve. He wants to radically change things (for better or worse).

They don't different much on education policy (at least based on their stated platforms).

But like you said, taxes and obviously healthcare are the biggest differences between Obama and Romney.

The irony is that Obama (based on how he's governed) is probably what the Mitt Romney who was governor of Massachusetts would like if he was President (granted Obama has been limited).

I'd like to, but isn't that a waste of a vote?
I'll end up voting for Obama, but I live in a blue state and it won't matter either... Now that I think about it, why bother voting unless the state you live in is a swing state?

you should vote because there are a bunch of races other than the presidential race at the state and local level that will probably have a bigger impact on your life

I have never ever understood the Gold Standard theory, but I think it is funny that this fringe view will possibly be adopted by the Republicans now.

No problem kid...Ron Paul and Mitt Romney on domestic policy are similar in terms of returning many of the functions of the government to the private free markets because there is a belief that doing such would create a more efficient fairer way of creating opportunities and wealth for all. Eliminating burdensome taxes for everyone allows for people to make their own decisions on what they should do with their money and for the most part the market is much more innovative than the government could ever be. The difference in this realm between both is that Mitt Romney is content with graudally moving that direction and probably only moving the needle slightly where Ron Paul would do his best to make drastic changes such as eliminating the federal reserve and having a hybrid gold standard replace our current fiduciary system.

An example of say maybe good intentions Obama or liberals may have but doesn't really end up as planned because ultimately such way of doing things is ultimately inefficient is say social security or welfare where the governmetn is forcing you to save for retirement but the government itself has squandered the funds and will eventually run out in the next couple of decades as opposed to giving us the choice to invest our retirement how we choose...welfare keeps many from looking for work and justifies single parent homes...high taxes affect unemployment because those who are producing the goods of society are less willing to hire because they factor in the cost of such things like sales tax business taxes and so forth...

Social issues Ron paul is probably slightly more conservative

foreign policy...completely different

Romney and Obama agree more on foreign policy than Ron Paul as Ron Paul doesn't believe the United States should be involved in foreign affairs at all unless it is a threat to us

this is just a general guideline its not in depth and to do so would require a textbooks worth of material but by all means please consider all angles and look at both sides before you make your decision as to what direction you think you believe in philosophically
