Well...she didn't word that right. But this country has went at those with African ROOTS a little bit harder than everyone else. I think that's a fair thing to say and it's undeniable. Jealousy of Blacks still exist in multiple forms till this very day.

Problem is that many of those groups have more or less been given more chances to earn some white privilege. Irish were originally treated like dirt, but now are recognized as white same with a lot of jews and Europeans. Indians and other Asians have model-minority status which is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because they're given the benefit of the doubt and assumed to not be troublemakers whereas it also a curse because they aren't trusted with positions of power over white people in the business world etc. Black people have been in america for hundreds of years, yet are still treated like they don't belong.We're black first, then whatever else after.
I can understand Whoopi's perspective because EVERYONE takes shots at us. Gays are racist and will take shots at us, Asians, Latinos, Jews, Eastern Europeans, EVERYONE. It's like to prove that you can be trusted around white people, you have to demonstrate that you can be prejudiced and hateful too, so you choose an easy target: black people.The only place where we can get any love is with our own, and even then the lure of privilege causes people to try to put down the community to get into the good graces of the dominant race.
Its true in a way, i would word it differently but we're hated in almost every corner of the globe, even in our own countries. Other races are feeling the residuals of white supremacy that is originally put in place to oppress blacks so...Black people get the worst of racism because its designed for us.

To tell you the truth, with everything that is happening recently like the police abusing their authority more than they used to, to pro-black artists having success commercially, we are experiencing a mini-revival of the early 90s when the Malcolm X movie dropped and pro-black MCs were still on the airwaves.
Even the c00ns are starting to wake up. Gradually.

Problem is, Native Americans are an extinct people. Black people are in the minds of CACs for no damn reason, but to shyt on us, one way or the other. Black folks are on the front lines of fighting against white supremacy when no one else cares to do so.

Im not gonna sit here and argue over this. We're both in a fukked up situation. But whoopi is wrong man.
That's the key difference here, and I can't believe that it's hard for some people to get. For example, a Black person can walk into a store, and a white or other non black employee would already have 1,000 negative preconceptions about them. A White gay person can walk into the same store, and they would be seen and treated normally unless they mention they're gay. You can hide your orientation, but you can't hide your skin color.
I do think Whoopi's statement is extremely ignorant considering Middle Easterns, Latinos, Native Americans, Aborigines,.etc have suffered their fair share of racism/discrimination. However, I suppose one can say that Blacks are treated and seen as at the bottom of the totem pole here currently in America. Both whites and non Black minorities know it. They are aware what their families, friends, think of us and what is said behind closed doors. They will still argue with you and tell you it's not true in your face though.
