Prime Kobe

1. his prime was longer than duncans
2. his prime was more potent than duncans ever was
3. he put people in the seats, ratings on tv, and money in owners pockets

Not to say it would be an easy choice...and not to say that i'm not biased...but thats what i would pick. Imagine if the Lakers had hired Pop instead of Phil and traded for Duncan instead of Shaq...I shudder to think about how many rings they could have won together.

It's obviously Duncan

I would build a team around him over any great perimeter player (that includes MJ)
That means that you're not too bright then. Mike was clearly a better more dominant player than Duncan was. This comment makes absolutely no sense.

With Kobe I'm guaranteed a repeat championship which is always a feat I've respected more than winning over a span. But it's hard to deny what Duncan brings. I'd still take Kobe over any prime player I've seen besides Shaq or Dream.

:wtf: MJ?

Kobe wouldn't even say that if he was playing fantasy league :stopitslime:

it makes a lot of sense if you know a damn thing about basketball:aicmon:

dominant big man>>>dominant guard

this is how its always been and how it will always be

if Tim Duncan was 23 years old today, he would be the #1 player chosen over every one. That includes Lebron.

Jordan just wasn't a "dominant guard"... He is a once in a generation athlete..

You would be a fool to take anyone over him.. Regardless of size...

I gotta take Duncan even though Kobe is DAT dude. It's always hard for me to pick any position other than big man to build my team around. I'm not even that big of a Dwight Howard fan but the only player I'd take over him in today's game is LeBron.

Jordan never faced a dominant big man, outside of a baby Shaq.

I would take most dominant big men over Jordan if Im starting a team. :manny:

And you would be fired...The fact that he never played with a dominant big man or faced a dominant big, but still won 6 rings, should show you how much you are overvaluing size in this instance.. The fact that the most dominant bigs of the era didn't win anything until Mike was playing baseball (Hakeem) or retired (Robinson) also points to this..

Duncan was great.. But Mike's prime was longer and more dominant...Don't even go through the career numbers...Just judge them both at age 35 (remember the notion that big men generally have longer careers)

Jordan at 35-29 ppg, 1st team all NBA, League MVP, Finals MVP, World Champion..

Duncan at 35-15 ppg, No all league teams, loss in conference finals..
