The way this is all lining up with Cole just winning the Owen Hart Cup.... wouldn't be surprised if he wins the Intern Heavyweight Championship to help set up his feud with Omega whenever he decides to return

1.- If the plan is for Mox to be the interim champ (bleh choice, tbh) my guess is that he finally gets the Tanahashi singles match he's been asking for years (and mentioned in a lot of promos since last year).
2.- If they wanna throw a monkey wrench and build up FD as a very special event. Then have Okada (or White) have a surprise appearance on Wednesday and win the Battle Royal. Then that wrestler wins at Dominion and you get the IWGP Champ wrestling for the interim belt. Main problem here is that you can't job the IWGP champ so there would have to be a non-finish. And the only way to make that acceptable is by running a huge angle (MJF?). I don't see this scenario playing out at all.
3.- Having fukking Adam Cole win it and then beats Mox by fukkery at FD
as @DaylitoJames said this also sets up Omega's eventual return, but it kind undercuts the unification match with Punk (unless it leads to Omega vs Punk for the undisputed title).
4..- Miro gets the strap and they re-do his TNT title reign with the interim belt. Don't really see it happening.
I think this was an awesome opportunity to give the strap to Eddie but I don't see them running an impromptu title match against Mox considering the JAS feud they are currently working.
Danielson would be the perfect workhorse champion and it would set up a huge unification match with Punk, but it seems they have other plans for Dragon and it wouldn't shock me if dude is gone during August to work the G-1.

That's true, Cole is on fire right now and he more than likely is next up for his turn to have a reign as champ, And the best bout machine vs Cole would be a pretty great match
Also, of course AEW Champion CM Punk didn't go in detail about his injury, but I gotta give it to him he's tough to come out with no cane or crutch or walking boot

I don't get what the point of AEW's rankings are. Moxley is ranked #4 on their top-five contenders but is announced the #1 contender for the championship at Forbidden Door?

I would give it to MIRO, he paid his dues. Okada wants to work with Punk or Danielson, so he doesn't want to work with Adam Cole yet. If Cole does the win the belt, then have Jay White kill Cole after the match as a punishment for 'Him' making Bullet Club weak.
