This is an orchestrated ploy by LeBron/Paul/Gilbert to keep Rich Paul's name in the news at the start of every season in an effort to give the illusion he's willing to go all out for his clients.
Helps Paul perception as a premier agent league-wide.
Which helps the company he runs.
Which helps LeBron, the owner of said company.
Which then helps Gilbert because he keeps everyone happy - the client, the agent, and LeBron.
How Gilbert leveraged LeBron' popularity/talent into a casino LeBron's first time here, LeBron is leveraging Gilbert to further his business interests in the return.

I know they can't be pleased with having no real center on the roster and no proven stability behind Kyrie at point.
