if canelo loses i think cotto's options come down to marquez or chavez jr. :wow: marquez has made it clear that he see's no point in fighting manny again and arum also said that marquez wants too much money for the 5th fight :obama: so marquez is left with rios, ruslan or cotto :whew: cotto is the biggest paycheck and biggest fight. now to chavez jr who has said recently in the media that he would make 160 for a rematch with martinez he probably had the :gladbron: face when he saw the destruction of maravilla this weekend. chavez walks through cottos punches and puts papi to sleep :banderas:

GGG isn't a option because i think we all know it would never happen. GGG is too big for cotto thats a high risk fight with little reward since GGG has never fought on PPV and fairly unknown outside the boxing world hes not a star. i think cotto only stays at 160 to defend his belt against canelo then vacants it he doesnt want those 160 problems :wow:

Fight Floyd and maximize his money earning potential, all the other names will still be there even post loss, but a Floyd match for all the marbles could break ppv history..........

The interesting result of Cotto winning is the power he gained in negotiations. Mayweather has to be looking his way as Cotto is only one of three names right now that he easily break 1 million PPV buys. A Maidana rematch I think gets Floyd around where he was last time at 900k. Khan probably isnt as big as they thought as the casual fan called him out on that.
But Cotto would be a guaranteed huge PPV for Floyd and even though Floyd would play the A side, Cotto knows he needs him.
If Porter beats Brook he fought his way into deserving being discussed, after beating Alexander, Paulie and Brook...but he still wouldn't have any name recognition and be lucky to do Guerrero numbers.
The second is Pacquiao and we know that isnt happening.

Now the interesting thing for Floyd is Canelo. With him cutting ties with GB he cut off his biggest realistic payday. I know Floyd made him look silly and hardcore fans might be a tough sell...but imagine this...what if Canelo beat Lara and then matches with Cotto. If Canelo won, you know his fans would be past the Mayweather fight and ready to proclaim him king again. We would be looking at 2 milly buys again.

Round about way of talking about Floyd, but either way Cotto is on demand and can make the best money of his career and get more PPV eats after that victory.

lets take floyd out, because it obvious that cotto is gonna still work with arum for his next fight if he's already announcing the date in decemeber. so let's be real floyd aint a option and damn sure aint working with arum.

i don't see how anyone can't see canelo-cotto happening sometime next year, possibly may if they take care business the rest of this year. i think cotto will 1) take his mandy who is rubio 2) try to unify and grab another title at 160 against soliman who is ripe for the picking at 160 3) take a fight at 154 against someone non threatening.

overall it's just hard to pinpoint, what cotto will do next, he has many options

None of this makes sense tho if you're cotto. Dude is a vet who, before Saturday, had only a few fights left in him. It's bankroll time for cotto. I doubt he campaigns like that at 160. Smartest thing is to bank roll his next 2 or.3 fights. No way u waste the hype on a mandatory and a no name

Cotto fighting a mandatory? :mjlol:
Not happening at this stage of his career. He'd toss a belt in the garbage before wasting his time with a mandatory defense against someone who brings nothing to the table financially.
If Cotto is looking for December for his next fight then I could see that being the first joint Top Rank/Gold Boy promotion with Cotto facing either Canelo or just facing Marquez if the co-promotional deal can't get done.

i never thought about the marquez fight, which means he would have to come down to meet marquez somewhere at a catch weight. if his next fight is at 160, i don't see why it can't be someone like soliman which would be another title grab and going against someone who's unorthodox but has poor fundamentals. all this shyt is just speculation until cotto speaks about what he wants to do next., bradley, marquez, maybe even one of the gbp fighters are a possibility.

Well Cotto came in at what 155 for the Sergio fight? I am sure with the right incentive (and special "supplements") Martinez could beef up to about 153-154.

Now if/when Cotto ends up facing Canelo in the winter where you think the fight is being held, MSG or Vegas?

I personally can't see it ending up in NY.
