I had dreads in 1995 and I got the idea from seeing someone else with dreads

I was aware of the fact of dreadlocs since I can remember so I know for got damn sure nobody in Hip Hop STARTED dreadlocs

And I grew up in NC. I had no clue what the Bay even was until way after I was aware of dreadlocs

It wasn't about who started it but rather popularized it in the states because nikkas before rap was rocking god damn Jheri Curls, and Conks for a while. And you can go back thousands of years and look at ancient societies where people wore Dreadlocks.
