Our people don’t respect the value of differences from one another.

Even Hendrix caught hell from black folks for not playing “black” nvm that his teacher was Curtis Mayfield or his contributions to the Isley Bros. especially Ernie.

Black folks have bad reactions to worldly views. Azalea didn’t pop off in the beginning because black folks don’t like house music

Gary Clark Jr. is one the most talented brothers to pick up a guitar in a while but black folks don’t like guitars.

The Internet with Syd the Kid is a talented progressive band but nikkaz don’t want to hear progressive cohesive arrangements over true R&B vocals

One paper maybe in reality people will go out they way to talk shyt or bring you down for being black and playing power chords

Jidenna tried to dress like Morris Day & rap, look how it went

It’s weird, immature, stupid, etc but that’s life huh

this... with that said, probably Pharrell

Name an old R&B song that sounds like IGOR'S THEME.

That song has elements of techno, rock, R&B, pop, EDM and gospel all at the same damn time and does it seamlessly.

Sounds like 70s prog rock. Nothing that we haven’t heard before, not influential, and not pushing any genre in any one direction. Nothing on that album fits any of the criteria given in OP.

Kanye is the only viable answer to this thread.

Prince was the last Black artist who fit that mold

He had the classic singles, classic and masterpiece albums along with amazing songwriting and producing songs for other artists.

A lot of the new artists of today all sound alike and conform to whatever the trend of the year is

There's no artists in this present day in time that is groundbreaking in the way that Jimi Hendrix was
This. Tbh, prince went beyond Hendrix as far as versatility and even guitar playing ability. Much more skilled technician on the axe.

and no one better not say Gary Clarke jr or whatever tf that guys name is. He’s derivative as fukk and can’t play guitar for shyt

Yep

And dudes naming guys who don't play instruments. Hehe
Exactly. Hendrix unlocked sonic qualities unique to the electric guitar that we take for granted today and laid the foundation for modern rock. His work with the instrument was so influential that certain chords he popularized are colloquially named after him. There is no kid cudi chord.

freaking drake’s uncle (for the uninitiated, look him up) was a closer equivalent to Jimi Hendrix than of the guys listed in this thread aside from prince

Came to say Thundercat, but he's not as big as Jimi was, no black guitar players are at the moment.
