Might be between Kendrick Lamar and Nipsey Hustle.

Idk about "connect to my heart,"

...but I never liked E-40 (just way too goofy and cartoonish)
-Big Daddy Kane's music sounds soooo fukking ancient af to me
-Biz Markie just too corny
-EPMD, all their acclaimed shyt just sounds too old, don't like their production style that much
-Rakim's 80s and early 90s work is dope af to me, but the 18th Letter's production was garbage imo...such a disappointing album
-Lupe Fiasco...just haven't given him much of a chance, liked some stuff I've heard but I don't check for him
-J.Cole, some stuff is dope af, some is just so boring
-Pusha T...he cool, but his voice get's annoying at times, and his ear for beats can be hit or miss to me. I think that Clipse album is one of the most OVERRATED albums of all time.
-OutKast...I love their first 3 albums...Stankonia is 3.5 tops to me, and after that they just became pop artists that ppl overrate to the maximum.
-Eminem, I'll admit he's talented...I just can't get over his obnoxious voice and his corny ass beat selection. His subject matter does nothing for me.
-LL Cool J...his prime was before I was old enough to give a f...He was corny af by the mid-90s
-Scarface...never was a big fan. I think The Diary is overrated af, I think his voice is bland. The Fix was only aiight too...
-Common...just boring elevator music to me, soft ass beats....not my type of music. He's obviously talented.
-TI, hit or miss. Some of his stuff was dope af to me, some was boring and played out. Couldn't stand Bring Em Out.

**NOTE, I am NOT saying these artists aren't talent, or someone is wrong to think they're dope...just saying I never fw them like many do.

Lot of ppl will disagree w/ me but I've tried to like these artists (w/ the exception of Lupe) as much as others heads but I can't force what isn't there...

Man I wish it was easier for me to get into the pre-92 era artists more. Other than a few acts (ATCQ), most of music from that era sounds so fukking OLD to me.
Yea I'm a 41 year old man and some of the 80s and early 90s stuff is ehhhh
I think the Chronic was the true game changer for the way we listen to rap music

Been saying this for years. It was everything before & everything after moment in hip-hop. Off top, only Tribe's stuff from pre-Chronic sounds like it could've been released post-Chronic. About everyone else's stuff sounds dated af
