He had a 30 pt game against the Heat the game before this.

That's the issue.

If we win half the games you score 30. And lose all the games you score 15. How are you really helping the team?

To an outsider, you're avg 20ppg. To someone who watches every night; you're an inconsistent bum.

Or he is a 22 year old third option :yeshrug:

Don’t blame him for taking bad shots blame the coach for banishing the other Wings on the roster to the deep bench so there is no one to sub in for when he has a bad night. Thibs taking him out for IQ wasn’t an option either because IQ isn’t going to be able to handle PG and Kawhi.

fukk they could have still won this game if Thibs coached better through out. He once again played dudes heavy as fukk minutes on the first night of a back to back.

Inconsistent 3rd options are replaceable :yeshrug:

The offensive burden should go to Grimes while RJ guards the other teams best wings. But since he's maxed out, he has to be force fed 18-22 shots which he clearly can't handle night to night.

He’s really inconsistent man…
So to put RJ in perspective

Whose better RJ Barrett or JR Smith? At this point in their careers (year 4) RJ Barrett by a mile, but you can compare RJ now to peak JR Smith too.

They would have the same role on most winning teams as well. The third option. The real question is could RJ operate as a sixth man role. I brought that up before the season began, and stand by it. Another D&3 with the starters should be the move. Them a bench of IQ, RJ, and another ball handler (maybe from the draft) should be the goal.

The rest of the roster issues is due to coaching, we have lost multiple games due to coaching and injuries.

Going at RJ because he had a bad night against the best offensive wing duo is not the real issue. Just like going at Randle or Brunson for the same issue is not the real issue. Those three combined make up the offense.

Thibs sucks

Smith is a career sniper, bro. What are you doing.

A reduced offensive role on this team is best for RJ.

Watch the games, he's a below avg shooter and dribbler.

Buckets is buckets and I remember Live or Die JR when he would shoot the Knicks out of games as a second option.

Also as a third option or a sixth man there should be a limit to shots taken. JR thrived there and eventually I think RJ will too.

Also who was Thibs going to put in against PG and Kawhi other than RJ yesterday? IQ wasn’t going to stop either of those guys. Thibs didn’t even think to put Fournier or Cam in and that is why I still say bad coaching and Mitch’s injuries is the main causes of most of these losses.

Nikka what?

JR>>RJ easily from a talent perspective.

If JR were allowed to play 36 minutes and take 18 shots a night he’d easily out produce RJ. There’s a huge gap in skill and athleticism. Thing is no team in that era of the NBA would let a gunner like JR do that. JR was a bone head on both ends whether it be bad shot selection or bad fouls or gambles. Plus he had issues in the locker room and off the court that contributed to a stigma that held him back.

To watch stiff robotic movements RJ Barrett for 4 years and say he's better than JR Smith in anything basketball is crazy. Lol.

All you gotta do is watch the best lefty in the league, James Harden. Then watch his two lefty teammates; Julius and Jalen.

Is his bag anywhere near those 3 players. As fluid as those 3?

I'd actually take JR over RJ. I think a prime JR with a green light would put up some big numbers nowadays; gotta remember that the shots he took back then that were considered "dumb" are pretty normal now.

But even discounting that last hypothetical, I'd still take JR.
