Heild doesn’t solve our big wing issue tho. Presently he’d be the backup 3? No thanks. Unless he’s the back up 2, IQ plays backup PG and Duece is out the rotation. If we could do it for Duarte, that’d be perfect.
Hield would be the starting 2 or 6th Man.

That man is shooting 43% from 3 on 9 attempts.

A Duarte for Obi swap would actually work considering the Knicks desperately wanted him.

It's not even about Obi for me, even though that depth chart at the 4 is gonna look real shaky after the fact

Trading for Hield makes no sense when you already have Evan Fournier rotting away on the bench. Like Thibs won't play Evan after he shattered the franchise 3pt record because of his shytty defense, but he's going to prioritize Hield? Yea aiiiight

Yeah, I like Buddy but it doesn’t make sense.

Duarte has been banged up all year and been stuck behind Hield and Mathurin. It could be him I could see someone like Oshae Brissett being thrown in to fill the big wing defender hold.

This has to be for Buddy heild I’m assuming?

Why would you assume Hield when Duarte makes more sense? The Knicks wanted him before because he is a Thibs type player (defensive roleplayer.) , plus he’s in a bad place in Indiana’s rotation behind Mathurin, Nesmith, and Hield.

Obi Toppin for Duarte and one of their 2023 1st round picks would be my bet for this trade. Indiana wins it to because Obi next to a PG like Haliburton could be great. Also while sending out a local kid that looks Dominican, they would be getting back an actual Dominican so increased ticket sales….

Ehh, you got Toppin plus two guys not in the team’s plans for Hield. I think that’s a fair trade. Clearly this FO is invested in Randle long term, by word and deed.

If they had just drafted Haliburton instead….
then Brunson isn't a Knick (neither would Quickley for that matter). Remember, the Knicks still thought Dennis Smith Jr. was gonna be a thing,

Drafting Obi wasn't the problem. Y'all just got gassed off Randle's season and extended him without addressing Obi's situation. Once Randle got the extension, tough decisions had to get made.

I love Duarte (De Lo Mio Personal), but I ain't shelling out hundreds of dollars to watch him become a political prisoner under Thibs

I’m not opposed to trading Obi, I’m probably one of the few ones here who think he is trash.

What a fukkin horrible pick that was, especially since we needed a PG and Haliburton was still available.
Y'all had Dennis Smith Jr., Frank Ntilikina, and Elfrid Payton and then proceeded to re-sign Rose. Did they suck? Yes. Did the Knicks still hold out hope for Frank and especially DSJ? Absolutely. Obi was drafted cuz the Knicks thought they were done with Randle. That's why I always laugh when guys keep a bum hoping he "builds his value up." Even if a player does, the team just becomes more hesitant to trade him because they're scared he finally turned the corner.

Given how everything shook out, if Haliburton was the pick, there's no guarantee his fate isn't any different than Obi's (on the flip side, you'd be sick to your stomach watching CP3 throw lobs to Obi in Phoenix)

Everyone knew neither of those PG’s were long term solutions, especially rose. We all knew frank and payton were trash. DSJ, I’m sure some fans held hopes for him, but overall was never good enough even in Dallas to think he could be a long term solution.

Haliburton was the smart and right pick. If we would of developed him into the player he is today, who knows. That’s a debate for another day. Great players flourish regardless of environment. Like IQ and Mitch

Except management.

You also knew Randle shouldn't have been handed an extension, but management didn't.

Randle is earning and deserves every penny he is getting. He is clearly our best player. Of course he is not a number 1 or even 2 option on a contender, but he is back to playing on that all star level. He still has boneheaded ways, but that’s usually when we don’t brunson to control him.

I disagree with this. When the Knicks acquired DSJ from the Porzingis deal they knew early on that he wasn’t going to work as he got benched and booed out of the city within weeks.

The Knicks signed Elfrid Payton because they gave up on Frank Nitkilina already. When the Knicks signed Payton he was suppose to be the stop gap Point guard until we could find someone better which I believe that’s why his deal was a 1 + 1 deal.

The Knicks had no belief in any of these point guards.
