With what shooters are we supposed to beat zones?
You beat it mainly with ball movement or you get to the middle to get a high percentage shot which breaks down the zone. It doesn't always mean 3 point shooting. We lose to zone defenses because our guys start playing one on one hero ball (Randle/RJ) & they become ball stoppers. That was the difference in the first half; the ball movement stopped.

I can deal with missed open looks if we're getting them the proper way. What I find unacceptable is when the ball stops which has been a trait with Thibs not enforcing consistently

That all sounds good but shooting is the primary thing that beats zones that ball won’t move as crisply without trusted shooters especially when the game gets tight. U need shot making. U see this same pattern with other poor shooting teams.

Of course Barrett and Randle revert to hero ball and one-on-one play it’s Barrett and Randle. Ain’t nobody coaching that out of them.

yal just be talking. rj AND randle were cutting to the middle of the court. rj missed his bunnies via his floater to exploit the empty zone. randle missed his midrange jumper he was making in the first half. grimes couldnt hit shyt from the perimeter exploit the zone and thats why we lost... on top of the stupid drop coverage julius was in cause thibs was deathly scared of harden cause harden was cooking grimes to death.
the real reason we lost is cause our defense fell off a cliff in the last 3 games.
complaints about us not scoring vs a zone would be moot if we played better defense

the talent on this team dictates we arent an offensive juggernaut. we are middle of the pack. the formula to winning is always defense in a thibs team. scoring 112 should be enough to win games.

The defense HAS definitely played a part with the L's but the underlying fact is the hero ball issues not being addressed. Randle & RJ were cutting sometimes & missing, but that turns into hero ball which you're minimizing. I made several mental notes yesterday when Grimes would cut & neither RJ or Randle hit him when he was open & opted for a bad shot themselves. They weren't cutting nearly as much in the 4th & if they were cutting, there weren't any passes to the cutter for a bucket. They hero ball consistently when the game gets tight instead of moving the ball to get the best shot or into a flow

nah. we had damn near 30 assists(:mjlol:) going into the 4th. we actually generated open 3s in the 4th and missed damn near all of them notably from grimes and quickley. they just arent as great of shooters as we make them out to be. they saw the bricks and went into more isolation. the talent on this team offensively is extremely hot and cold. randle had 25 at half and only had 10 in the second half. rj was bricking all night. grimes was 2-7 from 3. anyway the point is we shouldnt have to be in a shootout with a more talented team. cream always rises to the top. allowing harden and embiid to do whatever they wanted was the reason we lost. not poor isolation play. our defense was more problematic for the entire game rather than 1 quarter of bad offensive play.

You just proved my point lol. They moved the ball for 3 quarters & when we got to the 4th, they went hero ball like normal because some shots weren't falling like they were. You noticing a pattern lol? I can live with the missed shots if we're getting wide open looks & I even think Thibs can live with it because they'll eventually fall. But the defense is unacceptable & so is the lack of ball movement. I'm sure most somewhat can live with RJ & Randle bricking if they're getting clean looks & we're playing the right way
