He was promising and the bench offense has fallen off a cliff since he went out. The way Randle's playing, I don't think Toppin is gonna get the necessary minutes to fully develop. But they can afford to hang on and keep seeing what Obi becomes.
12 min or less what we have now is all we'll get. Obi shouldn't have been picked purely because Randle is here.

I think they should combine Obi and Reddish and see what those two get. Both have shown flashes and I think unlike Rose and Founier, there would be a market for both of those guys.

Sell high, Anunoby for RJ. I am not a believer in RJ.

Zach Lowe says OG is wanted all around the league. He said it'll take a Donovan Mitchell offer to get him. I like OG but not at that price.

The Knicks are in a spot where any trade they make probably won't get them past the top teams, unless they pull off a straight up heist. I feel like that's a recipe for standing pat, unless they're moving some of the dead weight at the bottom of the rotation. There's almost two months to the trade deadline, so my guess is they'll see how long the starting line-up can keep it up (they're trending at an elite point-differential right now). If things start to collapse, I could see a more aggressive move.

What's the consensus among Knick fans on Toppin? It was move Randle and give Toppin more minutes/responsibilities not too long ago from what I remember.
I think Randle is back to the “you only move him for an upgrade” status he was in 2 seasons ago. Obi is back to “prime asset in a consolidation trade” status.

Problem is, this is probably this teams ceiling. A 4-6 seed team. I don’t see much more JB and Randle can improve. Fortunately they’ve both just entered their primes so they can sustain this level of play for a handful of seasons but how much better do you see them getting? I’d say the same for Mitch really, until his athleticism starts to go. Grimes and RJ can probably reach another level but that’s probably it for both of them. I don’t see SUPERSTAR in either’s future unfortunately. So how do you upgrade this really good starting unit, with a player that fits well? To me, it’s gotta be RJ. A superstar wing would really elevate this team to title contention almost exactly like Kawhi did for Toronto.

Sure, you need a superstar to become a contender. There's none available though. OG at Donovan Mitchell price isn't the upgrade they need. So you wait, hope that the assets you have appreciate in value and strike when something is possible that really marks an upgrade.
