Sorry gonna disagree with Bontemps here
He's gonna sign that extension

This is generational wealth we're talking about here he's not risking that

He will sign it and ask out if he really doesn't wanna be there but there's no fukking way he just balks at signing it altogether

Donovan signed his 5/163 million dollar rookie extension already. In fact his has a player option for the fifth year (which he put in for a reason)

I listened to that podcast yesterday, they had a good read on the Cavs. They play two bigs and two small guards, not a winning combo in 2024 NBA. Unless Mobley becomes JJJ, they've hit a ceiling. Moving Mitchell might be the best course of action

The new normal for Star contracts is gonna be kinda crazy

I find it so strange that descending contracts aren't more of a norm in the league. The more years, the more mileage, I'd be more inclined to pay more at the top of the contract when the player is likely at their highest value, not 5 years later when they're getting older.

because if you can put off paying taxes, you will

and there's also the notion that huge ass expirings still carry some value.

Man.... paying 70M to a very good but flawed player is crazy.
It’s his max :manny: that’s where we at with it with the new CBA/TV contract and inflation.

Today’s 50M has the buying power of yesterday’s $35M.

What’s really crazy is the Saudis putting up $1B a year for these ⚽️ players

They won 51 games last year lol
How the hell have they hit a ceiling after 1 season?
I agree they need Mobley to step it up a lot offensively but that would be outrageously impatient to trade an All NBA player after 1 year

It’s been one season and they had one of the worst wing rotations in the league.

LeVert/Osman/Stephens/Okoro :scust:

Strus/Niang/Emoni bolsters that a little bit at least brings shooting.

Cavs were pretty good last season just lacking depth and experience. It should be seen as more of an accomplishment that we were able to beat them.
