Jokes aside idk…. It is trash, but they fukked up trading with Ainge. That trade was designed to specifically fukk them if Donovan walks, and Donovan might walk.
Nobody is going to pay Even 0.50 on the dollar for Donovan when they know the Knicks can just go into FA, trade a few guys using those same picks (like they did for Brunson), probably get some future pick compensation back, and then Mitchell walks to NY for nothing.
If Donovan wants NY this is basically a Beal situation, and the Knicks are prepping to go way over the cap anyway with a combination of Randle/Brunson/Donovan needing to get paid,

That was literally what Ainge banked on when he sent him to Cleveland. They would be in a perpetual sink with either picks going to Utah or Utah swapping with them from 2025 - 2029. If Donovan is traded they should be looking for a draft haul back to help with those years. The Knicks offering trash but draft picks is valid. They ain’t getting what they spent that would be the Mitchell rental tax, and those picks would help them not bottom out which is what Ainge wants
the organization told us he was the off-season draft pick so there was no need to draft someone
