Why would he be taking the blame ? He has plenty of witness knowing he was not there at time if death. A different gun was used to kill the cop and there is no murder weapon for Tara . The cops would have to be dexter dumb to think he killed both of those people then decided to go hug Tara and cry instead of leaving the scene.
