Now, if you’re a black girl who comes from a well-to-do family that’s all about resources, the women AND men will tell you to include other races in your dating pool because they want you to find a man with money, regardless of race. There are mostly men/sons in my family, but it wasn’t lost on me that the uncles who have daughters told me to date all races— from their perspective they just want the girls to marry men who can take care of them. The uncles with sons have never said to consider dating out.

A lot of Black girls don’t grow up with the “find a man with resources” talk. THAT’S why these convos are exploding on social media.
If every 18YO black girl had this convo with a mother AND FATHER before leaving for college/entering the dating world shyt would be a lot different.

I never said that other communities don’t discriminate against dark people. Every community pretty much has a color caste system. What I’m saying is that it opens dating options from a few black men to a few of all races of men. It gives a wider pool of people to be compatible with.

That’s why I don’t understand the outrage. These are the young girls who were watching my generation get told that y’all wanted white girls, “foreigns”, “EXOTIC”, etc.

I always say, people talk all this mess but no one actually listens to 20-something YO girls. Yea, older Black men might not be saying stupid stuff, but when you’re young, in school, and dating, the guys who are your age make it clear they have “options”. Now, some girls are saying the same.

She took too long to get to what she was trying to say so I turned it off. I do feel bad for young black women in certain spaces who want to date black men like themselves but are chosen last by young men who look like them. A video won’t solve anything though. Just suck it up and date different races. The fact of the matter is a lot of young Black men will not date young Black women. Especially if they’re dark. If they want a relationship and marriage they may have to move to a different community.

This type of stuff really differs by area though so her experience won’t be everyone’s.

I’m talking about being on campus/out of college meeting ppl and young guys AROUND MY AGE telling us about their “options”.

Hell, I went to an all white prep school and the brehs were already talking about white girls being an option back then.

Women who marry men soley for resources, also complain about them being controlling. Has to be some balance.
