wait are you talking about this picture or white people in general?

What I'm saying is that I grew up in predominantly white environments and the type of stuff we're seeing from the party photos is blatant. The ignorant uninformed stuff is something like people asking me if I celebrate Kwanzaa.

well yea I agree. I was making my comment based off you generalizing, but if you meant it pertaining to just this thread, then yea I agree. If you mean white people in generall are.....

When it comes to race, white people are fully aware of the dynamics. Especially some people in college.

then I would have to disagree. There are damn ignorant and lost white people. Touching black hair like they've been far away in a chinese village some where their whole life.

They know. Trust me. Stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. They knew what they were doing. End of story. When it comes to race, white people are fully aware of the dynamics. Especially some people in college.

Are white people insensitive and purposely offensive? At times? Yes.

Many times, no. In fact when you pull them aside they really don't see the problem in it.

This isn't an excuse but you can't expect them to AUTOMATICALLY think shyt is wrong.

Hell, a lot of black people have irrational hatred of other groups that are unexplained.

What is with white people dressing up as other races? They just see us as caricatures.

ya really gotta wonder what goes thru these CACs minds before arriving at the party when they are putting on all of that black (brown) face make up. It looks like it takes at least 15 minutes to apply it and let it dry and while this all happens you would think any rational human with real decency and respect for other humans would realize that such an act is at the very least, in poor taste.

but not these fukkers and many more who share their skin/ideals/beliefs and penchant for developing cases of skin cancer. No, these people, deep down, are just the modern descendants of the biggest haters in the history of mankind.

and this shyt has gotten old. every year (it never fails) you see a white frat at some school somewhere have a "ghetto" party where people are dressed in Fubu jerseys, fake gold chains, afros, durags/bandanas. And the girls have on hoochie outfits and fake asses made of pillows, as if thats the representation of black life in the ghetto.

i cant trip off of this because, this is just these CACs having recreation time. the ones we (you) need to be concerned about are the ones fukkng people over for home loans and putting up the $$, land and infrastructure for private prisons. The ones enforcing glass ceilings at the work place and manipulating salaries/wages. The ones riding around in squad cars and beating the shyt out of teenagers and showing them "their place." The teenage ones using "nikka" like its second nature just because they hear it in a rap song. The ones investing in keeping the poor on state/federal benefits, while gentrifying formerly "hood" areas and pricing long time residents out of the market completely. The ones who want you to "just get over" centuries of slavery in North/South/Central AMerica but bow the fukk down to descendants/friends/relatives of Holocaust victims/survivors, since that blemish on history has been reformed to be never forgotten or disrespected either.

on some for real shyt, fukk em all.

Okay, Blanket, what do you recommend?

I think people who wholeheartedly accept that white people are "just ignorant" of what they do and how these types of things are offensive really need to wake up. A lot of times, I would say a good 90% of the time, they know full well what they are doing is offensive. There is a reason Black folks/people of the races they are caricaturing are rarely seen or even invited to those parties, because they know what they are doing is stereotyping.

White privilege protects them in this situation because it allows them to feign ignorance at the exact same time that they defend their ignorance and their right to be ignorant once it comes to light. That's why you never see them apologizing about what they did after minorities find out about it, but merely dismissing them and telling them "it was just a joke". Their privilege makes it so they don't have to concern themselves with racial dynamics, and when they are confronted with them, because they are white, they can simply ignore them or pass them off as something minorities should just deal with.

I was just about to say I didn't have a problem with it until I opened the thread and saw they were in blackface and KKK outfits :beli: See, if it was just a party and they were wearing dashikis or whatever and being respectful....I would look at it no different than a Greek toga party or an Arabian themed party but as usual I lost for expecting respect and maturity from cacs :snoop:

nah, fukk that shyt too. the same people who dress up in togas, would be the same people asking me if i like anal (not sure where the fukk this stereotype came from?) assuming all greeks are really hairy and love hummus and other stereotypical shyt.

in my opinion, any person dressing up and "imitating" what they view a culture as that they have no direct connection to is stupid.
