No not "every" black man can portray a slave with relative ease. That's undermining the Heart, Determination, Charm, and charisma that Jamie brought to that character. Django was MORE than just a "slave", he was a MAN dedicating himself to the cause of freeing his captured wife. He played that character.

Also he was great as Boudini in ALI, Willie Beamen in Any Given Sunday, and Curtis Taylor in Dreamgirls. he's more than just an impressionist
That's cool. I still think plenty of people would've played "Django" just as well if not better. Not a difficult character at all to me. Nathaniel Ayers was more of a challenge IMO.

We'll have to agree to disagree then :ld:

As much as I love Any Given Sunday, Willie Beamen was just him playing, him.
Curtis Taylor was meh
Boudini, again, imitation of a real person.

Don't get me wrong, I'ma fan of Jamie, I just don't think he's an A-tier actor :manny:

I just finished watching "Olympus has Fallen" and though it has a way lower budget. It takes a huge dump on "White House Down". "Olympus" has serious thoughout the whole movie and had action through the whole thing. "White House Down" had action but very corny humor. Foxx and Channing chemistry isn't even that great. LOL @ Roland Emmerich flopping with "White House Down" and has the nerve to say that he doesn't need Will Smith for "Independence Day 2", LOL. That's going to Bomb too if Will isn't in it. Overall Channing has been in a roll. He's dropped 4 100 Million films since last year (The Vow, 21 Jump St, Magic Mike and G.I. Joe 2). This was suppose to be his 5th 100 Million film but it's not going to even get there.

LOL @ some of you saying Jamie is bigger than Will Smith during the whole Django mess. Jamie career in film as been AVERAGE at best with a few good roles sprinkled in. He's taking anything at this point in his career that's why he got Django. I got love for Jamie and I do think he's getting a little middle America backlash but he's an above average actor IMO. Channing will bounce back. Jamie got "The Amazing Spider man 2" coming next summer so they will both recover. Roland Emmerich had a huge hit with "2012" but this is his 3rd flop in 5 years. He better get Will Smith on speed dail or ID4 part II is going to flop too. Oh yea speaking of Will Smith. "After Earth" just crossed 200 Million Worldwide so all you people screaming that it flopped then "White House Down" did WAY WORST cause it opened less than "After Earth" and it cost way more. "White House Down" was suppose to be "Armegeddon" to "Olympus" being "Deep Impact" but it seems that "Olympus" will come out the winner which nobody thought was possible. Everyone thought "Olympus" was going to flop.

Out here in my damn drawls
Channing Tatum was enough for me to skip on this. This muhfukkah looks like he just shows up on set and starts reading lines like it's rehearsal :smh:. Makes Paul Walker look like Brando

And :dead: at the limo scene from the previews. Are these f*cks serious with this sh!t? How do these people continue to get financing for these movies ideas? :what:

Exactly, hes an all around great performer but he is not the best in any one medium. He's good comedian, a good singer/artist, and mediocre to good actor(IMO). I just haven't been wowed by his work with the possible exception of Ray. As for Django, I also agree. It was a step up but his acting was mediocre. I haven't seen much of his other dramatic work so I might be biased.

:heh: same. What kind of president can win a campaign with such a meek personality, he must have been really intelligent or something.

I agree with whoever said they never established the tone of this movie...

From the previews I couldn't tell if this was supposed to be "Training Day" or "Rush Hour"... :wtf:

I know his manager. Kid from MIT. By the sounds of it Channing is a humble easy to work with guy. Plus, he brings women into the theaters to watch his movies.

Get used to him.
