In humans, four genetic mutations are known to cause albinism, a syndrome marked by a lack of skin, eye and hair pigment.
As the only known white gorilla in the world, Snowflake was a zoo celebrity until his death of skin cancer in 2003.
Snowflake inherited a mutant form of this gene from both of his parents.
Light skinned humans are at a higher risk of DNA damage, birth defects, and numerous types of cancers, especially skin cancer.
Humans of European descent bear a slightly different mutation that hobbles the same protein with similar effect. The defect does not affect melanin deposition in other parts of the body, including the hair and eyes, whose tints are under the control of other genes.
A few genes have previously been associated with human pigment disorders -- most notably those that, when mutated, lead to albinism, an extreme form of pigment loss. But the newly found glitch is the first found to play a role in the formation of "normal" white skin. The gene, known as slc24a5, is responsible for about one-third of the pigment loss that made black skin white. A few other as-yet-unidentified mutated genes apparently account for the rest.
People with certain mental disorders, such as schizophrenia and autism, tend to have fewer children than the average person, suggesting that these disorders persist not because of heredity, but because of new genetic mutations, according to a new study.
A recent study from the University of Southern California suggested that women who were undergoing fertility treatments, but had low vitamin D levels, might have lower rates of conception
Among women, vitamin D appears to impact in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the most common female endocrine disorder, as well as boost levels of progesterone and estrogen, which regulate menstrual cycles and improve the likelihood of successful conception
In men, vitamin D is essential for the healthy development of the nucleus of the sperm cell, and helps maintain semen quality and sperm count. Vitamin D also increases levels of testosterone, which may boost libido
In genetics, a recessive gene is an allele that causes a phenotype (visible or detectable characteristic) that is only seen in a homozygous genotype (an organism that has two copies of the same allele) and never in a heterozygous genotype. Every person has two copies of every gene on autosomal chromosomes, one from mother and one from father. If a genetic trait is recessive, a person needs to inherit two copies of the gene for the trait to be expressed. Thus, both parents have to be carriers of a recessive trait in order for a child to express that trait. Note that "expression" in this sense does not refer to genetic expression (i.e., transcription and translation) of the gene. Instead, "expression" here refers to the observance of the gene within the phenotype. If both parents are carriers, there is a 25% chance with each child to show the recessive trait in the phenotype
Yeah
I read the the title and saw white and inbred, the conclusion shouldn't be any real surprise.
White is a sickness, white is unhealthy, and white is evil.
yea ur rightIt's embarassing that this thread will show up in search engine results and posters literally don't understand basic biology.
Melanin is present in every normal human being. Just to varying degrees. Google melanin and its function, it isn't just to separate people based on skin color.
yea ur right
Melanin and Disease
hence the ridiculous comparison of this albino gorilla to white people
What exactly were you hoping to convey by posting that link? This is specific to melanin deficiency. But your average white person isn't that deficient to where it counts as a disease. Albinos contrary to popular belief for the most do produce melanin as well, just at an extremely low concentration per cell. No melanin at all would mean you couldnt even step into the sun. Cancers everywhere. Lets talk.
EDIt: I just saw your edit. Was that sarcasm friend? lol
You said google it.. so I did. That's all. but i didn't find out that reproduction issues and skin issues might affect white people at higher rights.
