Havent even gotten through all his films, but Dr. Strangelove - The shining is some GOAT shyt.

Once I check out Eyes Wide shut and Paths of Glory I'll see if they count too

Edit- I've only seen 3 Sidney Lumet films, but the fact he made Dog Day Afternoon and Network back to back :wow:

Coppola fell off too quickly imo; after Apocalypse Now, the movies were average.

what about..
Coen Brothers
Oliver Stone

???
Naw breh, Coppola deserves to be on there imo. We are talking about streaks here and he hit a grand slam with GF1, Conversation, GF2 and Apocalypse Now.

Coen Brothers:ehh:Oliver Stone I can agree with.
Tim Burton had a great run from 85' through the 90s.:takedat:

As far as streaks though Godfather, the Conversation, the Godfather Part 2 and Apocalypse Now is one hell of a run. We're talking four movies in a row that are among the greatest of all time. Coppola could've retired in 1980 and still been considered one of the GOATs. Matter of fact it would probably actually improve his legacy even more if he did retire early. He never would've made Jack lol

Also, if you've seen Hearts of Darkness about the making of Apocalypse Now, you know dude went crazy making it. He literally sacrificed his sanity for his art. That film took everything out of him to make.

Word. Coppola's streak didn't last forever but the man owned the 70's. It seems like he put everything into Apocalypse and never really reached that level of greatness again, but at least he went out with a bang.

Burton's stuff is sometimes style over substance to me but Ed Wood is a perfect film IMO. I would say it's easily the greatest film about filmmaking ever. Then obviously stuff like Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, etc. are childhood classics.
