what about hockey players (nhl).

They go all out for 3-4 minutes a shift and then break they are pretty much sprinting up and down the ice along with taking shots plus hitting and fighting.

AGAIN: This discussion is not "what is your favorite sport"...No one in their right mind would put hockey players in this discussion unless they loved that sport. How about professional curlers?

And here are the Adrian Peterson types from Rugby -

5"11 210 runs 100m around 10.4

6"2 240lbs runs 100 10.66

They are both faster than Peterson and in the case of Rokocoko he's bigger and would outrun him in a 100m dash. Rugby players are incredible athletes, a lot of their power is in their legs.

i dont see it :skip:

:ohhh:

stfu, hockey players need to be in top shape for the amount of games they play in a year combined with what their doing on the ice. curling is totally different man :russ:

but :whoa:
boxing imo would still be number 1.

What about triathalon athletes?

all of the top athletes are in the 'best shape', albeit in different ways since the different sports require different things from their body.

:whoa:

the multitude of decathletes arent all that strong tho, just the one you posted

in example theres a handful of "strong" soccer players too but that doesnt make them as a whole the best athletes

i dont think yall understand how beastly defensive ends are though

But defensive end is a position within a sport where it doesn't take supreme athleticism to dominate. You can be Peyton Manning or Dan Marino and be considered the best. It does not work that way for Decathletes. If you are not the best at your sport you don't eat.

On average a decathlete will be able to perform most sports at a higher level than any other athlete. Why? because their sport encompasses every movement possible.

Can any of the defensive ends run sub 2 minutes in a 800?

you could say decathlete is a sub position of olympic athlete if you wanted to go that route :cheff: and i disagree with the they do everything notion

i dont see how running distance is admirable...it means you are adept at fleeing :dro:

:snoop:

I'm just going to stop responding to you guys.

@Malta has given a compelling argument for rugby, but that's because a ronnie lott kept saying football players.

Now you saying defensive end. Lol And you got Auburn all in your signature. It's cool man. Football is your favorite sport.

Probably the dumbest thing ever said when looking at the title of thread.

you say all that, but youre only making a case for decathlete, when they do such strenuous activity like javelin throw :dro:

there isnt much compelling about your argument outside of that one player...and i said Defensive end with my first post in this thread

also...you say its dumb...i say its accurate :cheff:

:manny: They're both widely accepted as the fastest men in Rugby, and are faster than everyone in this video -

You can't tell me dudes in that video aren't flying. I used to be jaded towards rugby athleticism, then started watching some of it and there are some flat out special athletes playing.

:leon: that is some acceleration :whoo:

however...does it look faster because of the other players?

how fast do you think Danny Woodhead would be without pads :leon:

This dude is built like a chimpanzee (5"11 210), he's taller and heavier than Woodhead :manny: -

Didn't Chris Johnson run a 10.38? And he's about 20lbs lighter than this dude. That dude is out, legs moving like he's Sonic the Hedgehog and that display of speed at 2:38 is crazy considering the rugby pitch is bigger than a football field length wise.
