But defensive end is a position within a sport where it doesn't take supreme athleticism to dominate. You can be Peyton Manning or Dan Marino and be considered the best. It does not work that way for Decathletes. If you are not the best at your sport you don't eat.

On average a decathlete will be able to perform most sports at a higher level than any other athlete. Why? because their sport encompasses every movement possible.

Can any of the defensive ends run sub 2 minutes in a 800?
:what:

This guy doesn't have supreme athleticism?

Could he play basketball?

Could he play soccer?

Could he play baseball?

Could he do well at gymnastics?

Could he do well at the 1500 meter?

400M?

Highly doubt it.

he could play all of those except for gymnastics and 1500 meters

anything over 1000m tho is :yeshrug:

and almost all gymnasts are undersized light people.

your decathlete could never handle a man larger than him

part of the reason im hesitant to agree with olympic athletes(outside of boxers/wrestlers) is because they generally compete with the course...and not other people

even elite runners like Bolt dont have to fight Tyson Gay and Yohan Blake to pass the finish line, they just have to run hard as fukk. imagine if they could jam eachother like football

im taking Yohan Blake with the over :dro:

Again this is why you football players(ronnie lott) and others just need to leave the discussion. :deadmanny:

The decathlete I posted scored higher than any other football player ever. What more do you want outside of him playing on Sundays? :troll:

Bolt is a phenomenal athlete but I wouldn't put him in the best shape discussion. His event doesn't encompass a wide range of movements.

And stop dismissing anything longer than 100 yards. Just because your guys can't do it :umad:..That's why they are not the best in shape athletes.

scored higher in what?

ive seen 300 lbs olympic weight lifters with higher verticals than some WRs in the NFL

ur talking movements and all but its pretty easy to see(and google) that most of the shyt a decathlete does is all the same shyt but in different events :dro:

after looking at the evidence ive revised my selection

1a. Defensive Ends
1b. Olympic wrestlers

2a. Boxers
2b. Cornerbacks

3. Professional Rugby

put it simple for you...if you had a choice between being Superman or the Flash who would you pick :mjpls:

EDIT why is running distance impressive? :what: you know the story of Marathon right? well guess what...that nikka died :heh:

this is me

i have a log here(that i havent been updating for a minute i wont lie :flabbynsick:)

running distance isnt athletic to me, pure speed and agility is more impressive

its more relevant to other sports too, running distance just means you can flee for longer periods of time

put it like this, in a fight to the death, im gonna take that rugby player @Malta posted over Mo Farah trying to run away with his olympic best 1500 times :dro:

But that is an extreme. That's why I didn't pick a Mo Farah or Galen Rupp as the most in shape athlete. I chose the median. Someone who has functional agility, speed and power that can translate to all SPORTS.

A decathlete does that. Lol Too many blows to the head man.

see i got you on the speed and agility :ehh: i just dont see the power across the board like that

and when i say power i dont mean an arbitrary number i just mean literal strength relative size(IE pound 4 pound)

versus other athletes in the same mold, the strength component to me isnt even a factor in the events decathletes compete in(you can make an argument for shot put and maybe discus but frankly im still no selling it)

:snoop:

Go grab a 16LB medicine ball and try launching it from your shoulder 60 ft. You wouldn't get it past your foot.

Pole vaulting is a full body workout. It is equivalent to what gymnasts do on the rings.

:pachaha:

The stupidity is outstanding. Bryan Clay scored the highest in the Sparq test. You know the test that is taking at the NFL Combine? He scored a 130 out of 132. The highest ever recorded. Some of the highlights of that test are the 40 yard dash and vert which he ran a 4.38 and 43.5 inch vert.

How is it that I know more about the game you fools love?

The fact that you guys never heard of Bryan Clay just indicates your lack of knowledge on sports. The decathlon shows who can jump the highest and longest, run the fastest, and measures strength, agility and stamina. It's difficult to put any quantifiable parameters for other sports, short of statistics that measure the specifics of those sports (ppg, rbi, era etc). But the decathlon measures much broader abilities that can be found across all sports.

What is it about that you guys can't seem to understand?

Ashton Eaton just smashed the decathlete world record. We are talking all around best athlete meaning all sports. Check this out

In which sport would you embarrass yourself?
AE: I would get absolutely dominated and embarrassed beyond all reason in swimming. I love swimming, but I cannot swim more than 200 meters without needing some kind of life-saving apparatus. It takes me more energy to swim 200 meters than to run twice that distance. Even treading water is difficult for me. I think I just get tense in the water. My calves start cramping up. I know how to relax when I run and I can be smooth, but once I start swimming it's like I'm fighting lions. My friends laugh at me -- "You are potentially an Olympic medalist and you can't swim 200 meters?"

He acknowledges his short-comings as the "world's greatest athlete", yet you guys scoff at the 1500M because it is too long. :mindblown:..Let me guess "swimming isn't a sport" because I'd bet my lunch money most of them fools cannot swim.
