I support the brotha. He had a couple dumb smart moments on the coli, but overall he seems solid.

We need to learn how to accept differences of opinion here. Gotta differentiate between bad faith actors (trolls, propagandists etc) and ppl who might hold opinions that we think are stupid, but who are sincere.

I invested in Black Sands back when he was trying to make a video game. Years ago, before it eventually morphed into comics/movies/etc.

I also bought 1,000 shares of stock in the company.

I say all that to say this....I'm a long time supporter but he was wilding with the Mel Gibson shyt. It isn't even a matter of opinion, not every idea that pops into your head needs to be shared. That goes for anybody, and especially if you're a public figure like he is. There was no upside to any part of it.

I agree. It was stupid and it's why PR folks have careers, because they know what should be said by the CEO of a company and what shouldn't be. The internet has brought down many a CEO or company that has chosen to freely share their thoughts on Twitter or forums without running it past a PR person first.

With that being said, I still support the brotha, but I can't be too upset with people who haven't forgiven him for the statements he made.

Is the content actually good? None of the comments itt actually speak on the quality of the art, which seems very uninspired. Most of the popularity around Black Sands comes from drama, @Neuromancer had a comic with a lot of potential and so did /u/DC_CLE2017 on reddit.

Yeah I'm not gonna shyt on the guy but I distanced myself from it.

One of my guys is actually an artist, I was gonna advise him to work at Black Sands but I dunno what kinda shyt the owner is on. I don't want people looking a me funny because I vouched for this company and....he wants Donald Trump to voice a black super hero or some crazy shyt.

I legit don't know, despite my investment. I don't read comics.

The video game he was making seemed cool as fukk though. It was an RPG with African gods if I remember correctly. After that I just thought it was cool he was doing media with all black characters so I invested. But I have no idea if it's good or not.

I can admit I've never read his or @Neuromancer comic but I don't believe it has to be either or. Multiple black comic companies can exist at the same time. I watched the Black Sands videos and that's what I liked. There seemed to be drama and conflict (of the good kind, in the story I mean) from the videos I saw a while back.

I work in mainstream comics. (I'm up late working on a short story for Milestone, actually.)

I don't know Eric July, have never met him, and hadn't even heard of him until recently. But based on the people he hangs with, dude is a whole goofy.

It's more than just having "different views", and it's way more than one "dumb-ass take". He hangs with open alt-Right ComicsGate clowns that wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire. It's clear that they simply find him useful, to deflect from accusations of being racist. I don't care how dark he is, a clown is a clown, and all skin-folk certainly ain't kinfolk. Not to mention he took a cheesin'-ass pic with Kyle Rittenhouse, which should be damning in and of itself.

I could also go on a whole tirade on this "Black conservative/Black libertarian/anti-woke" nonsense--especially since I used to be on that shyt--but I'll be brief.** That shyt ain't for us, breh.

BlackCon ideology comes from a place of real pain, and is a result of one feeling the effects of living under white supremacy without truly understanding its cause. That very real rage you feel is useful to the same white conservatives (regardless of political party) that hate Black people, Black culture, limit Black wealth and advancement, and tries in every way to destroy us. Being a Black conservative just puts a Black face on white supremacy, and you don't even realize you're being used. Your smug self-confidence isn't intelligence, it's self-assured ignorance. Your obstinate contrarianism is nothing more than a safety blanket, quilted from the strands of your fears and insecurities about the world.

I realized I responded to the wrong person in this thread, so let me clarify.

If @MegaManX is the Black Sands breh, I support him 100%. We met in person in Chicago a few years ago and he's cool peeps.

I think I saw some posts hyping up Eric July for fundraising over 2.5 million and @MegaManX started beefing telling the truth about Eric July being a c00n.
