breh stop tryna have it your way. Before Bron had a title no one was talking Bron vs Karl Malone or Bron vs [insert legendary wing who didnt win a title]. They were talking Bron vs MJ and ESPN was publishing full length novels about how he was better than Magic and Kobe. Before Kobe won a title he was compared to MJ. So it is what it is. The new elite star is always gonna be compared to the elite stars that came right before him.

Right!! I’m not a bron stan, and I’ve presented the same arguments you made multiple times in the past month. The anointing of Giannis has all been trajectory based at this point: “Giannis is gonna be top 5 all time eventually, so let’s hurry up and put him top 20 even top 15 right now if he wins one chip”. Guys like Bron had a helluva resume before joining Miami and winning his first title. All of this is a little too quick for me. I’d put Giannis top 25 after tonight. No problem. But ppl acting like it’s absurd if folks don’t wanna crown him after tonight. ESPECIALLY, considering these same ppl wanna put asterisk on titles of other players of the pasts, based on injury of opponents, covid(2020 Lakers), crooked refs(2006 Wade/2002 Lakers), and “lucky one-off post season runs”.

If he starts approaching Mike levels of GOATness, expect to see goalposts moved. Mike is Daddy to too many heads and media members, the downplaying of Giannis will shift to how Giannis has multiple postseason chokes to Mike's 0, there will be endless nitpicking of how limited Giannis' game is to Mike's etc...
But I'm with you 100%, Giannis has earned his way into these All-Time conversations, but calling him Top 20 when there is yet to be a pattern of him playing like this in his postseason career is a real problem...
This is the first time, literally, he's played at this high a level with this much consistency, and it isnt like he hasn't had the opportunity. This is his 8th year, his 6th postseason. I'm not jacking calling this nikka a pantheon GOAT for doing something ONCE...
He's not above any of these dudes yet, g. We're at maybe a half-decade of Giannis playing at elite level. The peak matters but so does the entire body of work. All three of these names were elite for well over a decade, all three led a team to at least one Finals just as Giannis has done, and in the case of Baylor he had a comparably high peak and mostly didn't win a ring because he was up against the greatest dynasty The League has ever seen...
Giannis is on his way, that's safe to say now. I don't get the rush to establish him at Top 20 without a pattern of him being this guy he's been this postseason...
