I joined one and support the Obama campaign because I believed the bullshyt. I went knocking for that puppet.

My new way? Don't support any candidates that settle or get pushed around by the right.

I'll support and volunteer for independent and progressive candidates.

Doesnt this plan technically end medicare and medicaid which you are already paying for.

No, it expands it somewhat but not enough.

It should be expanded to ALL people of this country. Keep private insurance companies that for those who wish to opt out.

Simple.

This is essentially putting a bandaid on a big fukking gaping wound. It's not a real solution and only increases private/government interconnectedness. The people arent going to see the benefits they could.

Single payer is the only way to go.

Yes, I did. I have considered that Obama could suddenly grow a pair of balls and start actually railing against the GOP. But then I realized that Democrats are born without functional penises, preventing them from making a real stand on any issue.

I might just vote libertarian for the fukk of it.:russ:

I considered it when I volunteered for him in 08 and he took the White House, and the Dems controlled the Senate and the House of Reps.

What happened there?

every human on this planet should have basic health care free of charge, and we should not expect or accept anything less.

is money more valuable than human life? never...

It's simple to say but not simple to implement a plan get to that point.

Like how are you going to convince those private companies that what you are doing wont be a threat to their business so they wont lobby against you?
or
How are you going to galvinize people, most of whom are satisfied with their healthcare coverage, to champion your cause when there isnt anything in it for them?

The time implement universal health care was in the 60's because now a whole super-system has been built that is inefficient but is good enough to satisfy enough people so that change is difficult.

Obama was never for universal healthcare but Hillary was

Barack Obama's Speech Urging Universal Health Insurance:

In the 2008 presidential campaign and Congressional campaigns all across the country, affordable, universal health care for every single American must not be a question of whether. It must be a question of how.

We have the ideas. We have the resources. Now we have to find the will to pass a plan by the end of the next president's first term.

Let me repeat that: I am absolutely determined that, by the end of the first term of the next president, we should have universal health care in this country. There's no reason why we can't accomplish that

I know there's a cynicism out there about whether this can happen, and there's reason for it. Every four years, health care plans are offered up in campaigns with great fanfare and promise.

yes my mistake, very early on he was for it but by his first primary win in Iowa(January 2008) he had changed his stance

Not quite. Feb 2008:

Let’s talk about how the plans compare.

Both plans require that private insurers offer policies to everyone, regardless of medical history. Both also allow people to buy into government-offered insurance instead.

And both plans seek to make insurance affordable to lower-income Americans. The Clinton plan is, however, more explicit about affordability, promising to limit insurance costs as a percentage of family income. And it also seems to include more funds for subsidies.

But the big difference is mandates: the Clinton plan requires that everyone have insurance; the Obama plan doesn’t.

Why would he do that, after just going through this dogfight for Obamacare?

And where's he gonna get the money for it?

Single payer should def be the end goal. But its gonna take way more than 4 years in this political and fiscal climate.

Single payer would be ideal and much better than Obama's plan. But let's be reality - Congress simply won't pass something like that anytime soon. As much as I hate to say it, this is probably the closest we can realistically get right now.
