where is the GBE/OTF/Keef/Sasha/Durk/etc..version of NYC?

are there anymore street nikkas left in nyc or did they all die off in the 90s?

real talk nyc needs a street movement similar to what chitown is doing now.

 if u think i'm talmbout some hipster charles hamilton nonsense.

Street movements and "street n*ggaz" are 2 different things. Your question has holes in it.

And just so u are updated on whats going on in NYC in contrast to getting ya info from the net.....The post just did an article on "youth street movements" some positive some negative:

Gentrification.

That and they're too busy shooting and getting shot up.

Coke Boys is the biggest movement out here goin, and it's no surprise that it's coming from 2 spots where little has changed about the city: the Bronx and Far Rock, America. You're not gonna see a movement on some OTF/GBE /Lil Mouse type of shyt here. Too much shyt is being done to prevent the kind of ratchetness you see in Chicago. In some ways, that's a good thing. The hope is that these kids and the generation after don't have to deal with all the shyt the previous generation had to endure.

60 posts in and finally a real honest answer.....

NYC never left. Your facts are backwards.

According to Forbes 3 of the top 5 richest rappers in 2012 are from NYC...South only had 1 and The west only had 1. That means 3 rappers from 1 city getting all the rap money. Also the 1 biggest rap female rapper in the game is from NYC. In 2012 there isnt 1 region that has 4 rappers killing the game like NYC and you'd fail trying to say otherwise.

To each their own, but the best new artist that came out this year is Joey Badass and the Pro Era cats. Mad chill dudes, mad humble, taking it back to the essence with the after show cyphers and whatnot.

I guess music like keef's is what i don't like.

smh at the sensitivity of some of you NY nikkas. this wasn't a diss thread fakkits. i'm legitimately wondering what is preventing a big ass city like NY from having a street movement made up of young cats in their teens and early 20s?

:russ: @ cats relying on old MCs to have more influence on the youth than the younger rappers. If you pushing 40 and your hairline pushed back, you can't still be chilling at the club with ya old ass self thinking you can bag a 19 year old chick. NY needs young blood before they can start a young movement. Forget a street movement.
