Keep getting checks until you can’t honestly going to the Lakers fukked up his bag because once they traded him to the Jazz and his dumbass took a buyout dropping his salary from 47 million guaranteed to under 900,000 when he joined the Clippers
?? That usually means he still gets the money... Buyout.. not salary cut

His game was predicated on his athleticism any small slip and he's not the same. And he has slipped a lot also ain't he going on like yr 15 or 16 too. These guys can all play a lot longer than they used to but father time is still Undefeated.
This.

Skill and raw strength/size are the last tools to leave you. His game was never overly skilled and he's not some Shaq or Karl Malone-sized breh....he was an elite 6'3" athlete. He never had the skillset to stick around like a J. Kidd or CP3. Once the quickness/explosiveness went down just a notch or two, it had an outsized impact on his effectiveness. He can be useful or a title contender as a 6th to 8th man in the rotation....or a starter on a play-in squad.

He's never been that consistent of a midrange shooter, it's just he took a lot of them so it became his image.

His prime was basically 2011-2020. In that time, he varied from 33% to 44% from 10-16 feet. In his best years 2012-2018, he shot 40%, 40%, 44%, 40%, 43%, 43%, 38%.

From 16-23 feet over the same period, he varied from 35% to 44%. Those 2012-2018 years he was 44%, 39%, 42%, 36%, 39%, 35%.

So he in terms of straight #'s, he was a capable midrange shooter but not an elite or consistent one, even at his absolute prime.

You're right about that, his FTs fukking cratered.
What we call a volume shooter.

Some brehs like AI, Russ etc., are athletic enough to consistently get off their own shot but aren't great shooters.

You could say most NBA wings (not counting superstars) fall into two categories: good/great shooter but needs more help getting their shot off vs. below average shooter with the ball handling or athleticism to get off shots easily and more frequently but they make them at a lower clip.

Kinda crazy he never really returned to being a high end defensive player after his first few years. When he was the #1 option with that high usage, he basically played Luka D out there

His athleticism is definitely still there as compared to many PGs, but it has been sapped enough to hurt his style of play. Between whatever has happened to his hands and lack of lift, he still goes for a lot of those yams that end up slipping out his hand or not making it to the rim. Idk any stats but I feel like he’s always been a one hand dunker and he usually has those bad misses driving when he goes for one hand attempts. May just be instinctual at this point

He also never really had a handle to create space, not even a younger Rose type. So if he really does get to a point where that first step is totally gone, it won’t really matter if he can figure out shooting or not. To his credit, he’s committed to setting screens, being a lob threat/cutter, and standing in the corner since playing with Harden. All the stuff that for whatever reason rarely happened in the LAL org

Westbrook is a guard who completely lacks the ability to put the ball in the hoop. While some teams might can find a use for him no teams NEED him. So other than his name I dont see how he stays in the league that much longer tbh

:dahell:
westbrook is only 35 and avg 12 points in 22mpg on 45% with 5 boards and 5 assists last year and has no issues coming off the bench

Westbrook as a 30mpg player jacking up shots hell no

westbrook as a backup pg hell yes
Bron/KD/Curry are Bron/KD/Curry. They are exceptions to the age rule and all are better shooters than Westbrook.

Only 35, which would be 36 2 weeks into the next season, is an oxymoron.
