The hood is a funny thing. That place that you all take so much pride in is a walking contradiction. You know it's fukked up but you want to stay there. Black people and embracing and glorifying being at the bottom. White people have historically done things to put black people in the hood and keep you in the hood. Look up redlining, blockbusting, white flight, and racial steering. White people did everything in their power to keep the resources out of the black communities. Their is no economy. shyt black people rely on other races of people to provide them goods and services in their own fukking communities.
White people designed it so that the ghetto was always going to be fukked up and white people also made it a culture for black people to associate the ghetto with blackness and living cushy as being "white". Black people have fully embraced that and ostracize people who try to leave the hood because they are seen as "selling out". White supremacy doesn't have to do anything anymore. It could disappear off the face of the planet but you're stuck in the nikka Box of the ghetto because you've been programmed and conditioned to think that you have to be in the hood in order to maintain some level of blackness.
There is nothing good or positive about the ghetto. White people want you to believe that so that you stay stuck in the hood. That's why the hood is always separated from the rest of the city by some kind of barrier. A railroad track, a prison, an expressway, or in some cases stone walls. That's what it's meant to do. It's meant to put blacks in the hood and keep them in the hood. One day America is going to be just like Brasil where you have the rich living right next to the poor and all that separates them is a wall, and black people will be more than happy on the poor side of the wall.
When black people say that being in the hood is "black" they are essentially letting white supremacy win. The funniest shyt? Whites don't have to do a damn thing to black people to keep them down anymore. Pay attention.
