There's another side to the coin when you get into the minuses. For Wilder/Fury, there's a -185 spread that the fight does NOT go the distance. What that means is you would have to bet $185 dollars in order to win $100. (you would get the $185 you spent back of course). Because they feel it's somewhat likely someone gets knocked out before the final bell
If Golden State Warriors are playing the Atlanta Hawks, you might see the Warrios as -1000 favorites (or higher). Meaning you'd have to bet $1000 in order to profit $100.
So typically with +xxx you'd have to spend $100 to earn xxx, whereas with -yyy, you'd have to spend yyy to earn $100. It can be a lil confusing at first but it becomes fairly easy to pick up, and of course you can spend whatever amount you want but those are just the baselines/ratios (the spread) to go off of
