Great era streaming facilitated music access and the combination of blog era, trap, drill, SoundCloud era, neo boom bap, and other niches and movements led to a lot of variety plus there were artists from prior generations who were still active and putting out quality work

Future dropped his best album in 2015 though. There's What A Time To Be Alive. Drake's last good solo project dropped in 2015. Kendrick Lamar dropped TPAB and Untitled. J. Coles FHD carried over into 2015. 2015 was the last great year.
every year is great

2016 the music was an absolute vibe that year

2019 is the weirdest year of the decade

It was fun with a lot of new school cats coming out along with the old heads still holding it down.

Ye hadn’t gone all the way batshyt crazy

West was back on top with Kendrick m, followed by mustard who had a string of hits, along with others like Dom Kennedy , Nip, TDE, etc

Young money was in its prime. Drake novelty hadn’t worn off yet. Wayne was cool, Nikki was pretty good. Tyga even had some hits.

ATL second generation was gearing up with migos, future, thug, quan, clone Gucci, baby, gunna etc

New r&b heads was coming out like Tory, Bryson, August Alsina, Jeremiah, Miguel. Trey Songs was still dropping some heat too. Chris brown was on the rebound.

Cole was starting to find his groove after finally being acknowledged by Hov

Big Krit, Sean, and Wale were all still relevant and even had a couple of hits.

It was a great bounce back after the ring tone era of the mid 2000s and it felt like we had a great influx of rappers who’d liked to rap but also liked making good songs.

Great balance. I miss it and still think fondly on those days
Great post but it was the rise of real alternative rap which is pretty much mainstream in the 20s. Uzi, Carti, XXX, juice wrld, Yachty all debut in the 10s

The 10s was the best decade if you really are a fan of the genre and not just a stuck in the 90s with NY bias brain rot

Every year is not great. Right now there’s no new hip hop artists even buzzing like that. Or dropping quality shyt. 2018 was fire tho. If u wanna break away from 2010-2015. But NOTHING beats that era since then. When it comes to how many movements started and new ground being broken. The shyt u naming is some of the same artists that brought ground during the years I named.

Future was before then. Migos too.
Those are separate statements. I was just spamming what came to my head about last decade

This has more to do with streaming and how it creates artist that are too Big to fail and slows the ever changing sound of rap

10s damn near belong to Future when i think about it:ohhh:

Most influential, most impactful, March madness is arguable the greatest single of that era

Roc Marci and Griselda changes the sound of underground rap

Too many dope projects to keep track of. It was a great era

The 2010s were a great time in hip hop after the lackluster late 2000s

The production really was something else in the 2010s.

Plus the fact that people were able to get really rich and utilize social media to the fullest.

it allowed all sorts of movements and sounds to foster.
