that wasn't a super team. Malone and Payton were past their primes

it was so a superteam. payton averaged 20 ppg in seattle/milwaukee. malone averaged 20 in utah. i thought they did quite well in la considering the circumstances. hell, 14 and 7 is better than what fisher did. plus kobe and shaq weren't on the same page at all.

IMHO, just because a player doesn't get recognized yet for his achievements, doesn't mean he's not deserving. That's why I mentioned Tyson Chandler, he didn't get DMVP until '12, but he was defensively dominant in '11 as well, he just didn't get the votes :manny: Rondo was never a scrub.
Rondo was a different player in 2008. He was the definition of a role player.

The heat were the only true "superteam" to win in recent memory...:heh: The Mavs resembled the Dream led Rockets (superstar surrounded by quality role players) or truth be told the Bron led Cavs (biggest difference, Dirk was super clutch during their '11 playoff run as opposed to whatever the fukk it was Bron did in '10...that Cavs team could have easily won a title and their reimaging as bron and "complete bums" is b.s.) more than any "superteam"....the Kobe/Pau lakers were a traditional 1 superstar, all star sidekick and decent enough role players modeled champship winning team (recasting a young and perpetually hurt Bynum and Lamar Odom as "superstars" is :pachaha:...even Pau is a reach but that's a different story)...I wouldn't even consider the '08 Celtics a superteam as the big 3 was mostly past their prime and Rondo was a rookie...last champ I would seriously consider a "superteam" is maybe the 3peat Lakers...had two top 5 players in Prime Shaq and young Kobe, but outside of them that team was nothing special...maybe the 70plus winning Bulls or definitely the Lakers/Celtics from the 80s

Who did LeBron play with that was better than Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, or Lamar Odom; who did he play with that was better than Tyson Chandler, Shawn Marion, or Jason Terry. Sheit I;d probably take :flabbynsick: JAson Kidd and Metta over who LeBron played with. I see what the threadstarter is talking about, those teams arent "superteams" but they were great, well-rounded teams. The fact that those Lakers and that Mavs squad have 4th options better than Lebron's 2nd says enough for me.

I dont blame LeBron for leaving, he wasnt going to get any help in Cleveland (didnt these nikkas not wanna trade JJ fukking Hickson for Amare Stoudemire?). Now you can argue about whether or not he had to go and play with Wade but to think he wasnt CARRYING those Cavs is wrong. I mean didnt Kobe try and force himself to be traded because he was unhappy with his surrounding talent in LA and then proceed to block the trade because it would involve him not having help in Chicago.

LeBrons 20007 finals teammates who on this roster is better than any of the above listed players? In fact looking back LeBron should receive more praise for doing what he was able to do with this team.

2004 lakers. shaq, kobe, glove, mailman. yes that was a superteam.

these nikkas is wildin, Kobe an Shaq alone make a superteam. One of the best SGs in league history and one of the best Cs in league history makes a superteam imo.

This dude included Brent Barry in the 07 Spurs "super team". :heh:

and Artest on the '09 Lakers team

:lolbron: But those guys are premier players who accepted lesser roles IMHO :manny:

I see where you are coming from but :whoa: at the Mavs being a superteam and :whoa: :whoa: at Barry being including for the Spurs "superteam".

As far as Bron goes them old nikkas just mad and bitter they either couldn't do the shyt or never thought of it. Ol mad cuz you texting and emailing when I had to wait by the mailbox for days for correspondence back in my day ass nikkas. Fans just hated because it wasn't their squad. Media hoped on because it was such a big story.

Yeah, could you imagine if Jordan ditched Chicago and went to LA? He might have had 14 rings :bryan:

According to the OP's loose guidelines of what constitutes a superteam, the 16 teams that make the NBA playoffs each year are all superteams, so I guess the answer is never.

The Lakers in 2004 were a superteam and they didn't get the title. I remember the media talkiing about them winning 75 games like it was guaranteed. Little did we know their season was pretty much ruined once Kobe caught that charge.

You mean once Karl Malone got hurt.

Don't act like Kobe wasn't balling out of his mind during the case.

The Mavs being a superteam is the biggest piece of revionist history ever:krs:

As for the thread the 11' heat. It's crazy how you had

The best player in the league
Another top 5 player
And a top 15 player

And not win. I think that's unprecedented. It would be like for example ten years before(01')

having
Shaq,Kobe, Dirk and losing:upsetfavre:
