lol this is a #bothsides argument by the way. If America has never been great, logically that would mean it’s been terrible for black people no matter who’s in office and controlling the United States. The ones with sense know this to be completely true, it’s never been great for black people but you still have weirdos who will argue tooth and nail for their favorite cacs, even going against other black people in the process. Some sick c00ns on here
This whole argument rests on a false premise. Yes, America's never been ideal (I'm saying "ideal" instead of "great" because "great" is more of a personal metric, you can be great in less-than-ideal conditions, and because MAGA just means "make everything white again") for Black people. We don't need a history lesson to see that. But this notion that, because of that, it doesn't matter who's in power? That's simple-minded bullshyt. The truth is, while no administration has been perfect, policies under one have driven actual gains, from civil rights protections to programs that directly benefit us.
Meanwhile, the GOP has actively worked to tear down those gains and push policies that harm us. This isn't about rooting for some "favorite," it's about recognizing who actively tries to make things worse versus who can be pushed to make things better. Saying "both sides" is both dishonest and lazy, and just hands power to those who are committed to rolling back our rights. So no, sitting back and letting that happen is not the answer. Shouting "both-sides" is not the answer, either. It just gives the folks who actively work to make it worse a free pass.
