Sooooooo....... None of you have successful parents?

Or they not to be listened to either?

My dad was never a deadbeat, and he has worked since he was a teenager, but no hes not in the position to give business advice :francis: he needs my help financially at times and I'm just in my 20s. He worked in a cafeteria for years, which there's nothing wrong with, but I'm aiming much bigger than that. I'm already on track to where I want to be because I think outside of the box, and I honestly wouldn't be if I had listened to him.

I don't wanna be his age asking my son or daughter for help. I want to be the one who helped them, I'm not gonna be on that "get out there and beg the white man for a job, nothing's handed to you, pull yourself up by your bootstraps" etc mentality

In my mind, it's not really old people it's middle age people that got it wrong. It's that 30-60 crowd. They usually don't know how to navigate shyt and start to just conform with the crowd. When you're young you try new stuff, you're not caught up in your prejudices, you don't care as much if your broke. When you're old, you might have little doe stacked, you don't care what people think of you, and you generally only care about your immediate circle. I get the best advice who been through it, triumphed, fukked up, and lived to tell about it.

My uncle is pushing 70, heart bout to give out, succeeded in the government world, traveled the world, was a functional crackhead, a very functional crackhead, got married twice, had two daughters, fukked everything, can bust most people's ass in pool and poker. I get most of my advice from him because he's seen it all and really gives two fukks at this point but to work his 40 hour a week security gig, play the lottery, and try to rest easy when he can.

Lol its the truth. If a young black man listens to their advice, its a good chance he'll be 53 still working at k mart or retail making 12 dollars an hour, taking orders from young or middle aged cacs

Generally, their advice is never about building your own, it's about just getting in the white man's business and staying. The crazy part is, some of the same ones who want you to do this, are struggling but still want you to do it anyway :why:

i remember when i was working 2 jobs and in school, saving money like crazy, i was barely going out on weekends and barely buying new kicks and clothes (which was hard for me because i was a former sneakerhead and i like to party as well), but i knew that to do what i wanted, i was going to need some money saved up, so i had to curb my spending habits. There were a couple of old relatives in my family (one who worked at fukking Target at like 59 yrs old) who used to laugh at me, saying shyt like "boy you always on dat computer" or "you always studying" "do you ever have fun, why you always doing x,y,z" this nikka didn't even own a house, he was still renting and still is, only thing the nikka owns is his car (if that), and to top it off he got laid off from Target like a year after that, and was borrowing money from relatives to pay the bills until he found another shytty job. These are the type of nikkas who will clown a young black man for wanting to do more than the "black male status quo". I think him getting laid off from that job he bragged about humbled him a bit, he doesn't clown me for being on my computer or tablet a lot anymore :umad:

And i'm about that passive income nikka....a lot of old nikkas don't be on that, they just believe in the same old hamster wheel, the typical, 9 to 5 working for a cac for peanuts

More and more ppl are going the entrepreneural route, mostly other races, but who says that i can't do the same? :sitdown:i swear a lot of them think they have to depend on the white man forever, like they can't do their own thing independently. Yes you may need to work for cacs or whoever until you get enough money saved, but to act like all black men have to do that for the rest of their life :beli:Most of them get shook at the thought of starting your own business, they start sounding like slaves being scared to be caught by massa, "you best stick wit dat job massa gave u, what u gon do if u leavez da plantation?! how u gon live? aint nothin else out derr fo us! hush that fuss" :francis:
Lmao at the slave talk but you right. I got fired from my job in February and im never going back to the coporate plantation. Once i realized its more ways to get paid than an ordinary 9to5 i havent looked back ever since. I used to have to work 100 hours a week to see a $3000 or more monthly check. It wasnt because i had to but because i wanted too. Now i make more money in less time doing home remodeling, property upkeep, etc and i drive for a new company on the side out in gary indiana. Its all about keeping yourself busy. Its the art of hustle( gotti voice) lol

Listen to successful older adults, if their advice is relevant.
There's plenty of advice older people can give that is inherently useful: staying away from vices, saving and investing money wisely, not getting married or having children to young, don't get caught up in anything illegal, use your freedom as a youth while you can, etc.
It sounds like a lot of y'all only know old people who live in the hood and smoke on their porch all day, and go to church on Sunday.
There are successful older people. I know quite a few.

I didn't say I don't listen to any older ppl, I said I only listen to ones who either are entrepreneurs, former entrepreneurs, or VERY successful in whatever career they chose :yeshrug:

A lot of older black ppl don't know what theyre taking about when it comes to entrepreneurship and some discourage it. I didn't say all but yes a lot. Many of them were more comfortable with receivng a check from an already established white owned company for the rest of their life over branching out and starting their own at some point. Not just "hood" ppl but also ones who lived outside the hood (it's funny you said that though, i'm from a middle class black neighborhood and it applies to them as well). Before I started my business and even now, why would i listen to someone who never had a business nor tried to start a business? I already know how to get a job and stay there for 40 years breaking your back to make a cac rich. That's not the path I want to go down and that's what a lot of them did. No thanks. I want kids one day and i want to be able to actually pass something down to them. I can't pass my position at some cac's business down to my kids.

Like I said unless they're talking about ownership (that they have experience in) or are very successful in their field (not just doing "okay") then no I dont listen to their advice

Africans and asians listen to their elders and always seem to prosper...I will listen to my elders.

Who starts more businesses to employ and pass down to their ppl? Older asians or older blacks?

That has a little something to do with it...not just empty words( "advice")

Businesses + advice goes along way. But just advice by itself without a reasonable amount of businesses being built for your race by the "elders", well that's not that helpful.

They practice group economics.

And before one of you nikkas gets emotional and asks me, "b-b-but what are u doing nikka :damn:" i'm doing the opposite of what a lot of "elders" did, i'm my own boss, and i also help other black men who want to work for themselves and/or go back to school/pick up a trade
