The only reason is because he was overshadowed by MJ. That's really it. There was Jordan, and under him there was Clyde.

The reason Kobe hasn't fallen to similar fate is because Kobe eclipsed ALL of his peers. AI, Hey-Zeus, Tmac, Vince, Mike Finley, Stack, EJ, Pierce...

I think basketball purists recognize how much of a GREAT player Clyde was; an all-time great at that....even though he dribbled with his head down and always went to his right lol

Clyde is better than mitch.

:russ:

Mitch was better overall, better shooter, defender, better post game, didn't dribble with his head down. Yeah Mitch didn't get to the playoffs except once in his prime, but Clyde played on much better teams. Mitch had a rep of being the 2nd best 2G in the league behind the goat, Clyde was never in that discussion, except in regards to athleticism

:whoa: @ people saying drexler & wade are better than iverson.

im noticing a pattern being formed on the slick. at this rate, reggie miler and ray allen will be ranked ahead of iverson in a few years.

Say What You Want But Drexler Def Doesnt Get The Props He Should, No One Ever Mentions Him

I Dont Even Mean As "One Of The Greats" I Just Mean In Regular Basketball Discussion When Talking about The Older Players

thats what im saying.

like when did mitch richmond become the official 2nd best SG of that era? its one thing to say that hes better, but its like mitch has officially taken the silver medal with no mention of clyde.

hes just a mitch richmond type player to me

Nah, growing up as a Kings fan, I liked "The Rock" which he was called way before Dwayne but Clyde was a better player than Mitch and a better resume, of course. He earned "The Glide" nickname when he was in Portland.

I think Drexler was overlooked and later scoffed at Jordan himself because their careers were at the same time. Both went in their prime during the late 80s-mid 90s, both took their teams to the finals, but both played the same position. Yeah, Jordan is better, but Clyde couldn't get out of MJ's shadow. He dealt with the backlash of being on the Dream Team with Jordan and losing to MJ in the '92 finals . 2nd that year to him in MVP voting. Even Drexler's championship with Houston were questioned because he won that when Jordan came back from baseball. I'm not going to go into him being involved in the "what if" draft day trade deal discussed in 1984 that included him & Sam Bowie being shipped to Chicago for Jordan.

He deserves being one of the 50 NBA @ 50 greatest players and has had an amazing career. There was just a guy named Michael Jeffery Jordan who was also around for the better part of it :mjpls:

LOL @ all this revisionist history... The Blazers were the great hope of the 90's... Niccaz was talkin bout the Blazers were gonna dominate the Bulls... but as fate would have it the Blazers had Clyde and the Bulls had the GOAT

Those Blazers team were really good, however, as long as Rick Aldelman was coaching, they were guaranteed to choke....
