The algorithm is fukked, rock = alternative according to Apple & Spotify:mjcry:

Rock includes Alternative and Alternative and Country Rock have become the most popular rock

Like Hip Hip includes Conscious Hip Hop and at times Conscious Hip Hop and Materialistic Hip Hop were the most popular hip hop

Radio wise rock music is done for, but theres still great bands out there. Last fm used to be my go to for new bands and now its instagram reels. Just got into a grunge revival band named superheaven. They bring back the feeling the right way without it sounding cliche

I don’t know your taste but Radiohead and Gorillaz have made the best rock music I ever heard after the year 2000. I hated Nu Metal except for maybe Korn. Metal isn’t my thing really either. I like love rock though - like the Killers, the Hives, the Vines, early Coldplay before they watered down, the Strokes, Weezer, Green Day, MGMT, The Foo Fighters, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, Snow Patrol, Modest Mouse, The White Stripes etc etc all 2000’s music … I really think it’s just a lack of knowledge … you all sound like white boys who say only Eminem has good rap songs and now rap / hip hop is dead … as if we haven’t been listening to it all decade …

Whew Demon Days and OK Computer had a marsupial set for the college years :whew:

As far as my taste in rock. It ranges from psychodelic (Mars Volta, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd), to grunge.

It's not folks sounding like cacs, it's just the fact that rock is deep in the underground. Like I can easily find some tunes with hip hop and etc, but rock is a different kind of beast all together.

No your dealing with the egos of other bandmates. So if ones having an off day, it could fukk the whole band. I had a recording session booked, and my drummer at the time downed a bunch of percs the night before, wasted our session. Even gigging, you have to deal with their attitudes and drug habits.
A big reason why bands can't even get past the first rehearsal session is because of infighting :snoop:

I'm currently watching a Van Halen fan documentary and the amount of infighting these guys did was wild :snoop:

I feel you, but 100 gecs and The Brains shouldn’t be grouped next to each other in “Alternative“ .

I used to live in the same western mass town as Kim and Thurston. They used to come into one of my old coffee shops all the time. They are regulars around town and if you know your indie rock, you’ll often see their homies in town. Jim O’Rourke, Fred Armisen, etc. J Mascis of Dino Jr lives a couple of towns over. He’s always around as well. Thurston used to have a pretty dope record store, I think it’s still around. Their daughter has a band now, I think.
I love Sonic Youth and Dino Jr. Freak Scene is a classic. To me. Had no idea about the Kool Thing story and LL.

Oh wow

LL was an a$$hole in his prime.

Karma got him back in so many ways especially not being mentioned in the GOAT conversation even though he came up with the name and technically should be in the conversation.

:hubie:

Edit:

I don’t want this to be a bash LL thread but it really annoys me that he never modified updated his flow …

that’s why he’s not in it…

LL is not in the GOAT Conversation because there is no conversation to be had. He is the Penultimate GOAT
