Sonic Youth is a rock/punk band from NY in the 80s and 90s.

The female vocalist of the band interviewed LL for Spin magazine and the interview didn't go great.

In return she wrote Kool Thing. Actually a decent song, and managed to get Chuck D on the track.

Oh wow

LL was an a$$hole in his prime.

Karma got him back in so many ways especially not being mentioned in the GOAT conversation even though he came up with the name and technically should be in the conversation.

:hubie:

Edit:

I don’t want this to be a bash LL thread but it really annoys me that he never modified updated his flow …

that’s why he’s not in it…

It's actually fukking wild how new rock seems dead. The only kids I know who listen to rock listen to GnR, Metallica, Zeppelin. Like really old shyt. I still blast 80's/90's/00's rock, punk, numetal.
I remember when there used to be only two stations that played rap.....and like 5 that played rock.

Rap took over rock for the same reason streaming took over cable....convenience of production and distribution.

Yep. I've recorded both as a hip hop artist, and in a rock band. It's super expensive, time consuming, and egotistical to record in a rock band. Especially a whole album. fukk. Costs about 5 to 10 times as much as recording a Hip Hop track/album.

You feel like rock recording sessions are more egotistical than rap recording? :jbhmm:

New rock had no edge past a certain point. Pop and punk being in the same sentence was also blasphemy. And as a casual listener musically the arrangements became the same garbage. shyt killed itself by being a parody of itself in the last decade of relevance. The music was cookie cutter trash.

Rock isn’t dead it’s like hip hop

You have to look for the good stuff

And for anyone to ignore all the progressive, indie and alternative bands is like going to a buffet and only eating carrots, celery and broccoli …

I used to live in the same western mass town as Kim and Thurston. They used to come into one of my old coffee shops all the time. They are regulars around town and if you know your indie rock, you’ll often see their homies in town. Jim O’Rourke, Fred Armisen, etc. J Mascis of Dino Jr lives a couple of towns over. He’s always around as well. Thurston used to have a pretty dope record store, I think it’s still around. Their daughter has a band now, I think.
