I heard MJ passed on this song originally. I always thought it was a ready made thing but it looks like maybe they just gave him the beat or something.

A lot of Pharrell's stuff is ready made with verses as plug and play but not always. It might be a rap thing. But JT has always been known for being more detail-involved then other pop artists.

I thought Mike refused because he wanted something like the WHAT WHAT beat they did for Nore? He said he wanted harder sounding Neptune’s beats.

MJ’s team brush the Neptunes off which is insane since they were unfùckwitable at that time. Take whatever they have Justin for Justified with the best stuff from Invincible and MJ would’ve be unstoppable

MJ passed on them songs cause he wanted a different sound. Doing them tracks wouldn't have pushed his envelope as the genre that the Neptune's were producing at the time was the Michael Jackson genre.

The Neptunes weren’t “hot” in 2000/2001. Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins was that guy in the late 90s. He made hits for J-Ho, Destiny’s Child, Whitney Houston. It made sense for MJ and his management to go with him.

The Neptunes/NERD didn’t really blow up until late 2002/2003. Real ones fukked with them since Mase/NORE/Kelis but they weren’t established in the mainstream until later.

Timber-CAC owes his whole solo career to The Neptunes and Timbaland because he’s an average singer at best. Anyone with those two titan producers would’ve ate from those beats alone. His NFL half time performance showed how average he is.
