Do you? Like I said, compared to other rappers, Jay doesn´t spit any thought or emotion provoking ish. Once you´ve heard the good stuff like Ghost´s verse on Jah World from The W, it´s hard to get excited about tracks like Song Cry and Meet The Parents (or Beach Chair for that matter). That´s just real..

Jays music is more relatable 2 the average person than ghost and face and alot of nikkas

Perfect example. That song pretends to be about people in the projects and all that but in the end, it´s just another song for Jay to big up himself and his team:

`..success please live through me..`

´Hova still gettin´ it in with soda´

Now compare that to the Ghostface verse I just mentioned:

Oh God, I beg for forgiveness
So help me Lord, yes I beg for forgiveness
Deep in my heart, please, I'm crying for forgiveness
Allah you Akhbar, I fall to my knees for forgiveness
Branded by the steel iron, bullets flying
Ladies being hit through wickedness, I'm losing my grip
I thought we lived by the books, The Bible, Koran
We pick cotton, my back is still hot and dark and
They threw burners in our babies' faces
Pale hands that looked scary touched our bodies in the strangest places
Sweat from the white man's head
Fell on our daughters as she cried, giving white man head, almighty
Alrighty, nikkaz is screwing
God won't you tell me why these ho nikkaz is screwing?
I'm sorry father, sacrifice me, leave my wife
Sacrifice me twice, so my kids can see paradise...

See the difference in empathy levels?

You know why they call The Projects a project, because it's a project!
An experiment, we're in it, only as objects
And the object for us to explore our prospects
And sidestep cops on the way to the top - yes!
As kids we would daydream, sittin on our steps
Pointin at cars like yeah that's our six
Hustlers, prophets, made our eyes stretch
So on some Dr. Spock shyt, we STARted our TREK
Some of us made it, most of us digressed
In the name of those who ain't made it my progress
Show success please live through me
See I'm the eyes for Emory, keep him alive
(This is a collect call) So everytime I press five
All he wanna hear is his boy talk fly
Up in the fed, and still holdin his head
So when he hits the streets he gon' eat through this bread
Now let's ride

the line you posted without the context make it seem all about self but really

"Some of us made it, most of us digressed
In the name of those who ain't made it my progress
Show success please live through me
See I'm the eyes for Emory, keep him alive"

look at how dope this rhyme is and you only taking a part from it changes the whole meaning of it.

Comin up though we thought slingin raw
Was the end all be all of bein rich didn't we
Little did I know my mo' potent delivery
Would deliver me, kingpin of the inkpen
Monster of the double entendre, Coke is still my sponsor
Heh, the Cola, yeah
Hova still gettin it in with soda
Diet, no sir, I ain't lose no weight
Started from the crates now I'm sittin on a whole case

Comin up though we thought slingin raw

Started from the crates now I'm sittin on a whole case
Since they got you sittin on that old case

Oh God, I beg for forgiveness
So help me Lord, yes I beg for forgiveness
Deep in my heart, please, I'm crying for forgiveness

There, happy? If you can´t see the difference in what they deem important I don´t know what to tell you..

No, I´m trying to show how Jay is comparing himself to other people in the struggle to ultimately conclude that he has made it and that other people can feel good about themselves because he made it, whereas Ghostface is focusing on how black people as a whole have been through the struggle together and they were all victimized in an equal way and how he hopes they can all work it out somehow with the help of God and that he´s even willing to sacrifice his own soul to save those of his loved ones.

So yeah, one of them speaks to me more than the other..

i didnt know that. Im not against ghost i love his music but hov is in another class than him.

How though? You just sayin' he on another level...How?

It's all perception man, the shyt I hold high in Hip-Hop you may not and vice-versa. That's why you can't be mad at people puttin' Ghost higher than Jay.

When I tell somebody off the Internet who my favorite rapper is, and they say they don't fukk with him for whatever reasons I just give em the :manny: and KIM, shyt shouldn't bother you. Buy his album, go to his concerts and enjoy the shyt.

Nall jay is comparing the difference in there mind state from now and when they were younger and how he was able 2 change his life and how he is gonna hold down his locked up friend.
