Seasons 1-6 are some of the best written, acted, and directed seasons of television that ever existed. The first six seasons of GOT are up there with Breaking Bad, Atlanta, the first 3 seasons of Lost, and universally loved shows like The Wire & Sorpranos as the best “Prestige” television shows in modern history.

Season six is actually my favorite because they started slowly bringing the strings together. The Battle Of The b*stards and The Winds Of Winter are two of the BEST 1-2 punches you can get.

Season 7 is absolutely HORRIBLE because Weiss & Benioff were clearly out of book material and wanted to get the series over as soon as possible so they could do that racist ass Confederate series and play in the Star Wars sandbox. HBO offered them a blank check to do three more seasons and they said no. Then they basically got down on their knees and BEGGED them to do two more FULL 10 episode seasons and they said no, which was the death knell for bringing the series to a close as an all time classic.

They RUSHED Daenerys’s descent in madness, which should have taken at least 4-5 episodes to really take hold, exploring and reevaluating the trauma she’d been through and why Jon’s parentage and Missandaei’s death was the straw that broke the camels back.

They RUSHED Jon and Daenerys’s romance. They had absolutely NO time to build chemistry and what should have been the most epic, passionate, and tragic coupling of the entire series was reduced to two monarchs suddenly reverting to horny teenagers with MAJOR communication issues.

They half assed shyt like Tyrion’s “love” for Dany. Bronn’s loyalty to Jamie. Varys betrayal of Dany. Cersei’s betrayal of Jamie. Jamie’s attraction to Brienne. They completely made Bran’s High Sparrow shyt irrelevant. The shyt the BED with Sansa & Arya’s “rivalry”. Littlefinger’s death. Etc.

And don’t get me STARTED on the Night King bullshyt and that final could-barely-see-because-it-was-too-dark ass battle.

Basically all Weiss & Benioff really HAD to do was give us those twenty episodes over the final two seasons and 90% of the issues could have been solved. They rushed and fukked it all up.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
It's hard for me because certain storylines fell off in certain seasons.. By 7, you could tell it was over. But by 6, 90% of the storylines were dragging and we were just waiting to see what Jon and Ramsey was going to. They were really carrying the series at that point.

Everything else was just "oh they finally met" or "what's gonna happen when they meet". I feel like, before that, any random episode or storyline was fascinating as fukk

that was during season 5…they literally had no choice but to take creative liberties since there was no longer any source material to pull from after a certain point…and the show suffered as a result
No it's even worse than that. They had ample material to work with that is contained within the existing books, but for some unknown reason they cut those cool and relevant plotlines out of the show and wrote themselves into a corner.

Euron was supposed to be ten times doper than he was. the Dorne king was scheming to get his kids on the throne. varys was scheming to get this other surviving targaryen on the throne. just so much more interesting things they could have used instead of shyt like the high sparrow and arya's dry ass and irrational faceless men plot.

Season 4 finale started the problems and once those season5 episodes leaked it was over, had some hype moments in season 5 and 6 but it went downhill from the ending of season 4 and having jaime and tyrion on a good note. IMHO

From season 7 on. Which is stupid because so many other story lines could of played out to keep the epicness flowing. Lady stoneheart should of been in the show. Smh.

Not even gonna mention season 8. shyt is like watching home alone past part 2. It doesnt exist

When they fukked up the Dorne story by sending Jamie/Bron on a bro mission. Instead of adapting or improving the material, they butchered it leading to a lot of people feeling it was a complete wasted storyline.

Consider the ways they could have adapted it based off the book. You basically introduced an amazing character in S4 in Oberyn Martell and people wanted more. The actual follow up story is interesting. The way his city/country mourned his death for a month, the pressure his brother Doran was under to declare war, and ultimately Doran’s decision to have the Sand Snakes arrested to prevent war escalation. All while secretly plotting revenge himself with a master plan to ally with the Targaryens. There was enough there to make some dope stories and they fukked it up.

5 is when the cracks started to show

-Sand Snakes and Dorne in general
-sloppy Ramsay/Sansa wedding night scene that drew heavy criticism

6 picked it back up but still had awful scenes like the Faceless lady pursuing Arya in Bravos like the fukking terminator

7 and 8 is when the wheels fell off. That last season is a fukking crime
