lol it's my interpretation.. but common sense . The blast didn't expand to the earth's core thus blowing up the planet. Your telling me Vegeta wanted to destroy the planet just to kill Buu? The area of the self destruct was highly concentrated and was only meant for Buu.

Look back at DBZ and see the only time they destroy planets is when they direct ki blasts to the core of a planet.

Secondly it completely ignores the fact that the characters were EXPONENTIALLY stronger by that point.

Again, Vegeta was capable of destroying planets WAY back in the Saiyan saga, so how does him releasing all of his energy in an explosion when he's exponentially stronger do nothing more but leave a crater in the ground?

I can tell you exactly how they're inconsistent and it has nothing to do with who's stronger than who.

During the Saiyan Saga Piccolo easily destroys the fukking moon. Later during that same saga Vegeta and Nappa make it clear they're capable of destroying the earth. Every characters powers increase exponentially from that point on, so how the fukk is it that the fights from that point on didn't obliterate the various planets they were on? We supposed to buy that every character (including the villains) were holding back during fights so that they didn't destroy planets?

THAT's the problem with that show. They started out and set the part insanely high in terms of power levels till they really had nowhere else to go after that, so they ended up constantly falling back on Super Saiyan transformations.

Hell, you can go earlier to Dragonball when Master Roshi destroyed the moon, and he only had a power level of like 130.

Then later on you got dudes who can damn near alter the atmosphere by powering up and their power levels are like in the ten thousands.

DBZ is just a series where you turn your brain off and enjoy.

Vegeta's was controlled, Cell's wasn't. Cell was swelling up and sh1t. Do you think Vegeta ever intended to destroy earth? Vegeta wanted to kill Buu. Cell wanted to destroy Earth.
