How were the power levels not consistent? You could easily tell who was stronger than who at the time.

I can tell you exactly how they're inconsistent and it has nothing to do with who's stronger than who.

During the Saiyan Saga Piccolo easily destroys the fukking moon. Later during that same saga Vegeta and Nappa make it clear they're capable of destroying the earth. Every characters powers increase exponentially from that point on, so how the fukk is it that the fights from that point on didn't obliterate the various planets they were on? We supposed to buy that every character (including the villains) were holding back during fights so that they didn't destroy planets?

THAT's the problem with that show. They started out and set the part insanely high in terms of power levels till they really had nowhere else to go after that, so they ended up constantly falling back on Super Saiyan transformations.

Just like when Gohan did kamehameha on Cell, the result of the ki blast flying off into space. They direct their ki blast so it doesn't destroy the planet. Both frieza and buu did ki blasts to the planet and blew them up with ease.

They could have had piccolo train for that 7 year period too, like vegeta did...or even more so have him fuse with supreme kai, or get the mystic powers instead of gohan

Mystic piccolo being equal to a ssj2 saiyan would be sensical, and gohan could powerup normally. Furthermore, it wouldve added merit to the mystic powers

Assuming they had already shyt the bead and were in the buu saga, having buu battle vegeta, goku, gohan, and mystic piccolo, with him defeating gohan (absorbing), barely beating mystic piccolo, and losing the vegeto would be good.

Realistically, having Majin vegeta end the series with a battle vs this theoretical mystic piccolo, ssj2 gohan (he destroys), and goku, with him only backing down and being defeated when trunks talks him down wouldve been perfect

There were multiple instances of all of those characters throwing energy blasts from mid air directly down at characters who were on the ground.

A 1 on 1 with SSJ level powers ended up destroying an entire planet. Meanwhile a SSJ2 Majin Vegeta self destructing causes a minor crater.

Nobody has said anything about it being unrealistic.

With all fiction the storytellers set certain rules up for the specific world they create. When those rules are broken it essentially breaks the world the storyteller created.

It'd be like if midway through Batman the animated series Bruce Wayne suddenly started using telekinesis with no fukking explanation. Yeah it's just a cartoon, but it breaks the rules previously established in that world for that character.

Or hell imagine if you're watching Game of Thrones and out of nowhere a dude shows up with a fukking Uzi.

So it's not about it being "unrealistic" as it's about it not staying consistent with it's own rules.
