Yup. More than a few moments made me hit the@Zero im thinking about this now. Little
Tommy had fukking buckets of blood spurt out the water
There’s also someone’s severed leg
And a rotted out zombie head.
Oh and we see a man get eaten.
PG tho.
Horror subgenres are based on phases it seems, the time period of the ghost/ paranormal , possession movies all seem PG 13 to me (Blair witch, paranormal activity, etc) . The R rating didn't really match up for me until the slasher/torture movies like Saw, Hostel) because of the graphic images. Just looked up Childs Play..that was R, lol but could easily be in the PG 13 category by today's standards. This is the problem with most modern horror. A movie doesn't have to be gory to be scary.
It is?? Now I'm surprised by that one. I thought that would be R ...a 7yr old gets eaten by a shark for god sakes. But that shark looks comedically mechanic seeing this compared to today. Even Deep Blue Sea shark with Samuel Jackson is underwhelming, looks animated/cartoonish and that was the late 90s. And lol at Deep Blue Sea having an R rating. That was easily pg 13 level.I never knew "Jaws" was Rated PG until 5 minutes ago.

I’d say that’s the subjective part. And again theyre all classic..
"kids in peril".. lmao.. you are so right. I don't think I was more than 8 or 9 myself when my brother let me watch his Jaws dvd, yup, the sandcastle, kid was like 3 and they had to nerve to zoom in and linger on the moment . Ohhh ok. Spielberg had some leverage.. that explains it.There are several dozen kids in peril in that movie, including a toddler making a sandcastle and universal had the clout to get a PG rating on it
that describes the horror movies from the past 6 yrs or so, I don't mind the gore- it's the unnecessarily loud creepy sound effects not relevant to the moment- *cue secondary character walking across the bedroom opening the closet door (makes audience think there's a monster lurking) and Boom! pulls out a shirt . Or *main teenage character is waiting to drive the car talking to best friend on a rainy stormy night, music build up in the background while camera pans in..Bam! (random loud knocking on car window)... it's their mother or father "here honey, you forgot to...... "YOu can make a great horror movie without gore. I think a lot of those 80s movies started getting lazy with the scares and started relying on jump scares and revolting gore to fill in the blanks.

Panic Room too...way overrated. any horror movie with "room" in it just have low expectations. Room 6, The Killing Room.....escape room is the definition of this thread
Movie was mediocre af
