When did having a "Wrestlemania Moment" become a thing?

Most of these ‘moments’ are forgettable to mostly everyone to begin with.

- Hogan slamming Andre, that’s a moment.

- Savage and Liz reuniting, that’s a moment.

- Even Kane giving Pete Rose a tombstone... that was a moment.

Seth Rollins cashing in the fukking briefcase? THAT’S what constitutes as an all time moment now? Something we’ve already seen countless times? What it’s special because it happened at Mania?

Did that moment really culminate to ANYTHING? I’m sorry did Seth Rollins have some magical run with the belt that I must have missed? That entire “reign” was filler.
Till this day I'll never understand the hype behind this

We all knew he had the briefcase and knew they wasn't gonna have Roman win cuz of boos:patrice:

Why yall downplaying Seth's moment? The crowd was shocked and popped for it, therefore it's a Mania moment.

i guess for me personally... it's cuz i'm not a huge rollins fan and i think the MITB gimmick has long, LONG outlived it's usefulness.

i mean it led to one of the worst stretches of WWE programming in history and that's saying a lot. it wasn't as bad as the year with the mystery GM but it's damn near close to the bottom.

It’s all about marketing and branding. They live off that shyt now. So things that used to feel organic are now storylines. It’s more important to get a “moment” than a W. More important to “steal the show” than get a W.

This is true, but I also keep in mind, it's important to hype Mania now even more than it was many years ago. Before, you didn't have stars wrestling other stars every week, and a PPV every month... so Mania itself was a big deal just because you got to see all the stars wrestle each other on the same show. Now, you get that all the time, so I see why they throw all the extra hype on Mania, cause it's supposed to be their biggest show of the year. I get it, cause WWE is show business, and that's how it works. :yeshrug:

Only thing I really can't stand about the Mania hype is all the pointing. It would mean something when someone did it if they didn't have EVERYBODY do it. Now it's corny every time someone does it.

the only thing that separates mania from the rest of the year now is the size of the stadium and the size of the crowd.

beyond that it's pretty much just another show with the occasional part timer you've already seen 100 times come out the woodwork.

Which goes along with their "wins and losses don't matter" philosophy along with their "we make movies and put smiles on faces" philosophy.

I notice when someone is cutting a promo
They face the camera on the side of the person talking not in front of them
So you see the wrestlemania logo in the background
