WWII after the UK or Great Britain became devastated from the war and the US scraped its isolationist policy after intervening in WWII.

Isolationist policy was scrapped under Theodore Roosevelt if im not mistaken.

World War 2. The UK and France were devastated by the war and soon after they started losing their colonies. The US bailed out most of Western Europe with the Marshall Plan and was pretty much the big dog of NATO. Western Europe pretty much knew if the Soviets decided to invade that they'll get overrun until America could intervene.

They had won wars before that but non as significant and impactful as WW2. Whenever they wanna talk trash to Europeans or just reach back for glory they reach way back to1945 and pound their chest talking about "..if it wasnt for us you'd be speaking german right now blah blah blah.." type shyt.

They tried to follow that up with the Korean war which was somewhat of a draw. They then got their teeth kicked in in Vietnam despite the North Vietnamese being far outgunned but when you bring that up they be on some "...if it wasnt for politics they would have bombed Vietnam back into the middle ages blah blah blah..."
